Invitation

Welcome to the 5th International Conference of the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies (SIPS)!

Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to the 5th International Conference of the Society for Interdisciplinary Placebo Studies (SIPS). This year’s theme, “From the Mechanisms of Placebo Effects to Treatment: Translating Basic Science into Clinical Practice,” underscores our commitment to fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration on the complex and multifaceted nature of placebo effects.

The program will present groundbreaking research across biology, medicine, neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, ethics, and related disciplines, as well as explore the practical implications for clinical practice in fields such as medicine, psychology, nursing, physiotherapy, sports sciences, and beyond. This year’s program includes a diverse range of engaging formats, such as keynote lectures, plenary sessions, symposia, flash talks, and poster presentations.

For the first time, the conference will feature Poster Highlights presentations on the main stage, showcasing the most outstanding posters. We are also excited to announce the return of the Science Slam, a standout feature from our previous conference. Throughout the conference, several prizes will be awarded and announced, including Travel Grants and Best Poster Awards, presented by the Scientific Program Committee. We are also pleased to honor the recipients of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement and Early Career Awards, presented by the SIPS Steering Committee. In addition to the main conference, we are thrilled to offer two preconference activities: the Summer School, tailored for early career researchers, and the Methodological Workshop, led by esteemed experts in the field. Detailed information can be found in the dedicated sections for the ECR Summer School and Methodological Workshop on our website. To further enrich your conference experience, we warmly invite all participants to join our evening social events, including the Welcome Reception on Sunday and the Gala Dinner on Tuesday. Early career researchers are also encouraged to attend the Social Event on Monday.
We look forward to welcoming you to the historic city of Krakow in June 2025!

Warm regards,
On behalf of Scientific Program Committee
