A Estimating models with high-dimensional fixed e↵ects Following Guimar˜ aes and Portugal (2009), the number of fixed e↵ects can be reduced by half by first demeaning both dependent and explanatory in the sender-year dimension, leaving only the sender-target dummies. Using conditional probabilities, the fixed e↵ects (ci) can be separated from the explanatory variables (Xi,t), which significantly reduces the size of the matrix that needs to be inverted.
