- تطهير حزب البعث عام 1979 أو ما يعرف بمجزرة الرفاق ، أو مجزرة قاعة الخلد .كان مؤتمراً حزبياً بعثياً في العاصمة بغداد، في قاعة الخلد، نظّمه الرئيس العراقي السابق صدام حسين بتاريخ 22 تموز 1979 بعد ستة أيام من وصوله الى منصب الرئاسة في العراق بتاريخ 16 تموز 1979، مما أدى إلى فشل الوحدة بين حزب البعث السوري بقيادة حافظ الأسد وحزب البعث العراقي بقيادة أحمد حسن البكر، كما أدّى إلى قتل واعتقال كل المعارضين البعثيين لصدام من تلك القاعة. بعد ستة أيام من استقالة الرئيس أحمد حسن البكر وتولي صدام حسين منصب رئيس الجمهورية العراقية والأمين القطري لحزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي ورئيس مجلس قيادة الثورة (RCC) بتاريخ 16 تموز 1979، نظم مؤتمرا لحزب البعث في 22 تموز 1979 في بغداد - قاعة الخلد نفذ فيها حملة اعتقالات واعدامات شملت رفاقاً من حزب البعث لترسيخ هيمنة صدام وزيادة نفوذه. ضمت القائمة معظم الرفاق الذين عارضوا صعود صدام إلى السلطة بعد البكر، ومن هؤلاء السكرتير الأسبق لأحمد حسن البكر هو محيي عبد الحسين مشهدي، وقد تم الإعلان عن أسماء الأشخاص المراد تصفيتهم وطردهم خارج القاعة ليتم اعدامهم. أظهرت الدعاية البعثية في ذلك الوقت أنهم ادينوا بالتآمر والخيانة العظمى ضد حزب البعث العربي الاشتراكي. - The 1979 Ba'ath Party Purge (Arabic:تطهير حزب البعث) or Comrades Massacre (Arabic:مجزرة الرفاق) was a public purge of the Iraqi Ba'ath Party orchestrated on 22 July 1979 by then-president Saddam Hussein six days after his arrival to the presidency of the Iraqi Republic on 16 July 1979. Six days after the resignation of President Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr and Hussein's accession to President of the Iraqi Republic, Regional Secretary of the party, and Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council on July 16,1979, he organized a Ba'ath conference on July 22 in Al-Khuld Hall in Baghdad to carry out a campaign of arrests and executions that included Baathist comrades to consolidate Saddam's hegemony and increase his influence. The list included most of the comrades who opposed Saddam Hussein's rise to power after Al-Bakr, and among these was the former president's secretary, Muhyi Abdul Hussein. Names of people were announced and they were taken outside the hall to be executed. Baathist propaganda at the time showed that they were convicted of conspiracy and high treason to the party. (en)
