- La Barbobarbulo (Lybius dubius) estas birdospecio de la grupo de Afrikaj barbuloj. Barbuloj kaj tukanoj estas grupo de birdoj kun tutmonda tropika distribuado. La barbuloj ricevas sian nomon pro bridaj harecplumoj kiuj ĉirkaŭas siajn fortikajn bekojn. La Barbobarbulo estas komuna loĝanto kaj reproduktanto en tropika okcidenta Afriko. Temas pri facile videbla, granda barbulo 26 cm longa kaj 80-108 g peza. Ĝi estas diketa, kun mallonga kolo, granda kapo kaj mallongeca beko. La plenkreskulo havas nigrajn kronon, dorson, flugilojn voston kaj subbrustan zonon. La gorĝo kaj la ventro estas ruĝaj, sed sub la nigra zono ruĝo estas miksita kun blanko en la flankoj, kaj estas tre ampleksa helflava ĉirkaŭokula nuda haŭtaĵo. La pugo estas blanka. La beko estas tre dika (32 al 37 mm longa) kaj flaveburkolora, montras segilecan bordon en la suba makzelo kaj du tre videblajn dentonoĉojn kaj sulkojn en la bordo de la supra makzelo, kiel la Dudenta barbulo, kiu ne havas alian pli rimarkindan econ por la nomo. - The bearded barbet (Lybius dubius) is an African barbet. Barbets are near passerine birds with a worldwide tropical distribution, although New World and Old World barbets are placed in different families. The barbets get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills. The bearded barbet is a common resident breeder in tropical west Africa. It is an arboreal species of gardens and wooded country which eats fruit, although the young are fed on insects. It nests in a tree hole, laying 2 white eggs. This is a conspicuous, large barbet at 26 centimetres (10 in). It is fairly plump, with a short neck, large head and a shortish tail. The adult has a black crown, back, tail and breast band. The throat and belly are red and there is a yellow eye patch. The rump is white. The massive bill is very thick and yellow, and the well developed clump of bristles at its base give the species its name. Sexes are similar. The call is a growling scrawk. The bearded barbet is found in well-wooded areas with plentiful fig trees. It will enter gardens for fruit. It forms social groups of 4-5 birds and pairs or groups roost together in a tree cavity.
