Framed by shopping arcades of at Alsterfleet, there are many events taking place here, amongst them open air cinema in summer, the Stuttgarter Weindorf (Stuttgart wine village), the music festival of Rockspektakel, and the Christmas market in December. In passato è stato lo scenario preferito per manifestazioni politiche e sindacali. Fino agli anni settanta, inoltre, ha svolto un ruolo fondamentale nel trasporto pubblico cittadino come hub della rete dei tram.
