Ambassadors’ Roundtable of 8th China and Globalization Forum

June 20 , 2022

On June 20, an Ambassador’s Roundtable, part of CCG’s 8th China and Globalization Forum, was successfully held in Beijing, focusing on trends, challenges and responses related to post-pandemic global mobility. CCG President Wang Huiyao hosted the roundtable, while H.E. Lin Songtian, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and former Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, delivered opening remarks.
With the arrival of 2022, the world has entered its third year of dealing with Covid-19, whose unprecedented impact remains the number one threat to the global economy. Globalization is essentially about cross-border mobility of goods, capital, and people. Over the past two years, Covid-induced border restrictions and differing national pandemic responses have made significant impacts on the volume of global trade and FDI, and dealt severe blows to mobility-dependent industries such as tourism and international education.
In this year’s Ambassador’s Roundtable, held by CCG, ambassadors from more than 20 countries exchanged their opinions on the current state of global mobility and its possible future. Ambassadors from the European Union, France, Italy, Brazil, African Union, Indonesia and many other countries agreed that countries should work with each other to ensure a global recovery based in multilateralism and continued globalization.
