The Wonderful Smell of a Burning Koran

Edwin Wagensveld is at it again: he has burned yet another Koran, this time in Amsterdam.

Mr. Wagensveld is the leader of the Dutch branch of Pegida, and his been featured in this space on numerous occasions (most recently here).

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from NieuwsNL:

Pegida leader burns Koran in front of Stopera [Opera House] in Amsterdam

April 3, 2025

Amsterdam (ANP): On Thursday, Pegida leader Edwin Wagensveld set fire to a Koran in the center of Amsterdam. He did so in front of the entrance to the Stopera, seen by an ANP reporter.

Wagensveld had announced ahead of time the Islamophobic action on the Amstel River. Before Wagensveld burned the Koran in front of the Stopera, he said that his right to demonstrate was not guaranteed. The square in front of the Stopera was cordoned off by the police, who, among other things, were present with horses.

On Thursday afternoon, the police judge in Arnhem sentenced Wagensveld to twenty hours of community service and a one-week jail suspended sentence in another case. The judge found Wagensveld guilty of insulting the Islamic community in the Netherlands, insulting the Arnhem mayor, Ahmed Marcouch, and violating a ban on his entering Arnhem. In addition to community service, he must pay €500 to the violent crimes damages fund.

Appomattox: Lest We Forget

This afternoon I attended a ceremony marking the 160th anniversary of the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia (which I often sardonically refer to as “the Confederate Nakba”). It was organized by the Appomattox chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and took place at the Confederate Cemetery in the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. The cemetery itself is on a plot of land that isn’t part of the historical park, and is owned by the UDC rather than the federal government. As a result, at that location we unreconstructed Confederates can engage in our customary activities without being busted for hate speech or otherwise interfered with.

The occasion began with a prayer. We then pledged allegiance to all three flags: the US flag, the Virginia flag, and the Confederate battle flag. Yes, I know some of those pledges are mutually exclusive, but nobody seems to care.

Following that there were a few brief speeches, several songs, and some reading of poetry. UDC members in widow’s weeds placed a rose by each grave, and two little girls set up battle flags next to each headstone. There are nineteen soldiers buried in the cemetery, all but seven of them unknown, including a solitary Union soldier (who got the Stars and Stripes next to his headstone).

Then a number of wreaths were presented and placed next to the memorial stone by representatives of the groups that donated them, mostly chapters of the UDC or camps of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). Not all of the groups were local: one of the SCV camps that presented a wreath was based in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The weather was gloomy and very windy, which is why the flags ripple out so smartly in the photo above. The whole time we were there it looked like a storm was coming in, but the rain never arrived. There was just a little light drizzle on the windshield during my drive home.

The climax of the occasion consisted of two salutes: three volleys from the muskets, and three volleys each from six cannons.

It was difficult to take photos while the muskets and the cannons were firing, because my muscles tended to jerk reflexively at each loud report, making the shots blurry. However, the multiple volleys allowed me several opportunities to repeat the attempt, and I was able to get a few clear shots.

All in all, it was an excellent occasion. It was a reminder — at least for me — that the Confederate battle flag is not about slavery or tariffs or even states’ rights, but rather a symbol of resistance to tyranny, and a reminder that Virginia was invaded and devastated by an alien army.

Deo Vindice!

Welcome to Sharia City, Texas

The following reports and videos concern a recently-established Islamic community in Collin County, Texas that aims to become the sharia capital of America, a new, fully-Islamized version of the USA — the United Emirates of America, perhaps?

The East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) is expanding in furtherance of a comprehensive plan, with some ominous overtones — for example, a compound-like building next door to the Plano police academy, overlooking a restricted-access parking lot and tactical mustering area. There is much about this plan that should make non-Muslims nervous.

The testimony of retired police Lieutenant Douglas Deaton at a meeting in Collin County discusses these issues and others related to the new EPIC city. I have only one quibble: Lt. Deaton said: “This is not about race. It’s not about religion. It’s about governance. It’s about sovereignty [emphasis added].” The problem with Islam — which few people in the West seem to understand — is that religion and governance are one and the same from an Islamic perspective. There is no separation between mosque and state — the concept is alien to Islam. As Muslims frequently tell the infidels, “Islam will dominate.” And when it does, it will govern. Islamic law — sharia — will be the law of the land. There will be no other source of law. Secular governance will no longer exist. Everyone will live in an Islamic paradise.

But that’s a minor quibble. Lt. Deaton gave an excellent presentation in the very brief time allotted to him. I couldn’t have done nearly as well.

Vlad’s introduction provides (in a slightly different form) an outline of what’s going on in the new sharia capital of Texas:

On March 31st, hearings were held in Collin County, Texas, where concerned citizens crowded both the main court room and filled an overflow room to object to, or support, the project of a sharia-compliant city being built on the edges of several different forms of municipalities in and around Plano, Texas.

The project is called EPIC, for East Plano Islamic Centre. And the testimony was amazing. I didn’t count the full number of people who presented, but at a rough estimate, there were about 60, all but two of them against the project, and all of them had great and varied arguments.

Of the two who were in favour of the project, one was an actual hired PR agent for the EPIC city project and the other a failed Democrat candidate in the last election whose hatred of the regular people of Texas was only exceeded by his belt size. At one point he referred to all who objected to a sharia city in Texas as “crypto-fascists”. Not a lot of consideration there for the rather genuinely fascistic nature of Islam, as he bandies about the term at least.

Over time we hope to present all the testimony. As each person had a maximum of three minutes to speak, it is no burden to hear it all. But this one we are presenting first. Pay close attention. Then check out the Laura Ingraham segment from last night’s show with Governor Greg Abbott.

This is the video of Lt. Deaton’s testimony:

Everybody Must Get Stoned

A picture from the scene of the crime: Michael Wehner photographed one of at least three stones that were thrown at rescue personnel

An Afghan culture-enricher in Frankfurt suddenly decided to throw paving stones at paramedics who had been called to treat a woman who had fainted. The reasons for the confused youngster’s actions are not yet known. Perhaps it was a quaint cultural practice from his country of origin. Or maybe he thought the paramedics had committed adultery…

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Bild:

Prosecutor assured

Man (30) hurls paving stones at first responders

Frankfurt/Main — Another incredibly cowardly attack on rescue personnel. In Frankfurt, a man hurled three paving stones at rescue personnel, one barely missing the emergency paramedic Michael Wehner (46).

A 30-year-old Afghan was arrested by patrol officers shortly after the attack on August 7, 2024, and is in custody. Now the state prosecutor’s office has filed charges. The charge: Suspicion of attack on rescue personnel with attempted dangerous bodily injury.

Senior State Prosecutor Dominik Mies to Bild: “Anyone who attacks rescue personnel must feel the full weight of the law.”

Stones thrown at rescuers

A look back: Altogether, there were six rescue workers on the bank of the Main River in the train station quarter of Frankfurt, and two were already treating a woman who had fainted. According to the charges, “without any discernible reason, the suspect allegedly took gravel stones weighing about 400 grams [ca. 1 lb] from an old railway track and threw them at the rescuers”.

Out of the corner of his eye, Wehner saw a man with a hood and screamed at him to stop. But it got even worse! The Afghan allegedly then aimed and threw another stone with great force, “in which the stone hit and damaged the rescue vehicle at the level of the witnesses’ heads,” according to the prosecutor’s office.

The paramedic of the Worker-Paramedic-Federation (ASB): “If it had hit our heads, my colleagues or I would have been at least seriously injured.” The fragments could have caused a traumatic brain injury, in the worst case, fatal.

Increasing attacks against rescue personnel

The fact is: Violence against police, firemen, and rescue workers has been increasing for years. Every day, 54 police officers are injured through acts of violence.

Culture-Enriching Wife-Killer Receives Justice in Padiglione di Osimo

The perpetrator of a particularly brutal murder in the Italian city of Padiglione di Osimo has been sentenced to life in prison. The Moroccan culture-enricher was convicted of beating his wife to death in front of their two small children. The killer attributed the verdict and sentence to the judge’s racism.

Many thanks to Gary Fouse for translating this article from Il Giornale:

“Racist, sh** judge”. Sentenced for the death of his wife, the Moroccan insults the judge

Tarik El Ghaddassi beat his wife to death before the eyes of his children, ages 4-7.

by Francesca Galici
April 4, 2025

Tarik El Ghaddassi, a Moroccan living in Italy, on the night between October 10-11, 2022, beat his wife to death in Padiglione di Osimo in Ancona province. The appeals court confirmed his life sentence. For him, the charge of voluntary homicide, aggravated by cruelty, trivial motives, abuse in the presence of two children, minors aged 4-7 at the time of the incident, and committing a homicide during the period he was under house arrest. The appeals court confirmed all of the sentencing from the criminal court that was issued on June 11, 2024.

For the accused, the motive was reportedly jealousy, but El Ghaddassi’s defense always denied the voluntary nature of the homicide, maintaining the theory of an argument and an accidental fall down the stairs on the part of the wife. The defendant admitted to having abused her, but not with the intention of killing her. For this reason, acquittal was requested, or as an alternative, conviction for manslaughter. The appeal to the court of cassation has already been announced, but at the moment of leaving the Ancona tribunal courtroom, which confirmed the conviction, the Moroccan gave vent to his anger, making serious accusations against the judges. “Racist, sh** judges,” El Ghaddassi shouted, implicitly maintaining that his conviction was the result of prejudice against him, due to his foreign origin. The body of Ilaria was found in the bedroom, covered in bruises all over her body. El Ghaddassi stated that he was not aware of the gravity of what had happened until the following morning.

“We are happy with the sentence, but quite shaken from having to relive the tragedy over the course of the trial. There was a lot of tension in the hearing today, but he got what he deserves,” said Daniele Maiorano, Ilaria’s brother. “Nobody can give her back to us,” said a former schoolmate and good friend of Ilaria.

The condemned man, who has been in jail since the day of the crime, will also have to pay compensatory damages of 400,000 euros to each child, 250,000 euros to Ilaria’s mother, Silvana Salvatore, and 165,000 euros to her brother, Daniele.

The flurry of good news and long-awaited good policies keeps flowing from the Trump administration! There’s literally too much to cover in its entirety, but here are a few of the high points, beginning with a return to a serious, no-nonsense policy approach to the Islamic Republic of Iran, its nuclear weapons program, and its regional jihadi proxies, especially Ansar Allah (the Houthis) in Yemen.

Marine Le Pen: “There Are Millions of French People Who Are Outraged”

This past Monday Marine Le Pen, the leader of Rassemblement National in France, was convicted of “embezzling” her funding as a Member of the European Parliament and sentenced to four years in prison, with two years suspended. The most damaging part of the sentence was that the judge forbade her to run for office for five years, which prevents her from running for president in 2027.

On the evening after the sentencing, Ms. Le Pen appeared on the 20H program on the commercial French TV network TF1 to talk about the verdict and discuss her plans for an appeal. Many thanks to Brunhilde for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes and RAIR Foundation for the subtitling:
