The image specified by the URI is cut into 9 pieces by 4 cutter edges (2 horizontal, 2 vertical).
The size values determine the position of the cutter edges from the top, right, bottom and left side of the image.
  • If only one size value is set, it is used for all four sides.
  • If two size values are specified, the first value is used for the top and bottom sides, the second one is for the left and right sides.
  • If three size values are set, the first value is used for the top side, the second one is for the left and right sides and the third one is for the bottom side.
  • If four size values are specified, the order is top, right, bottom, left (clockwise from top).
The border-width values decide the width of the element's border. The border separator lines (lines between the contents of the element and the borders) cut the element into 9 pieces. The 9 pieces of the image will be fit into the 9 pieces of the element.
You can specify the behavior of the fitting by the repeat style parameters. If only one repeat style value is specified, it affects the horizontal and vertical directions, too. If no repeat style value is defined, the default is 'stretch stretch'.
