Any option for non tracking platforms?
Many people choose free software to avoid be tracked as in Youtube.

Changing the streaming target is a metter of a single line of code in Jibri. So yesColegota likes this.

Show all 9 replies@Alberto, we are just pasting the same message everywhere and the shortener comes from there.
@Claes, if someone didn't care about the open source version of a project and had no intention of maintaining it. then why wouldn't they just let it die? why would they bother changing licenses? Speculations aside, a look at the repository should quickly and clearly show that post-acquisition activity hasn't changed at all compared to pre.
@Jason what you suggest is making everyone share the restriction as opposed to the current state where everyone is sharing the privilege.@Jitsi "share the restriction" is very loaded language, which betrays a clear bias. The restriction, in this case, is the inability to take code with freedom-respecting licenses and lock it up behind anti-freedom proprietary licenses.lnxwalt@microca.st at 2015-06-18T22:45:31Z

@Jitsi, But that would also have been a level playing field i.e., everyone also bound by the copyleft terms. Framing it as a "restriction" is only as true is anti-copyleft propaganda makes it.@lnxwalt, @Jason, permissive vs copyleft is a debate that we are not going to settle in an identi.ca thread. Both sides have merits and both sorts of licenses have successful projects using them. At the end of the day it comes down to personal judgement and ours is that permissive will give Jitsi more adoption. That's how we'd like to invest our time.
You are free to disagree and invest your time elsewhere. You are also free to take yesterday's version of Jitsi and continue developing it under LGPL. As a matter of fact you can take tomorrow's version of Jitsi and include it in a GPL3 project the opposite being impossible.
Time will tell, which choices were right.Claes Wallin (韋嘉誠) likes this.

Show all 11 repliesI don't know the Jitsi community, so I don't know how heavy BlueJimp is in terms of development input, but I'm guessing they're heavy, because that's what my prejudice about CLA projects tells me.
So yours is a very important point. I didn't consider that aspect.https://medium.com/@chadwallacehart/atlassian-acquires-jitsi-what-it-means-f313621cfbcb analysis says acquisition all about Jitsi Video Bridge, which probably makes sense. JVB is a lot more successful in its space than the Jitsi clients (desktop and web) are in theirs. It may well make sense for Altassian to continue working on JVB but not on the clients. All the posts on continued open source development are entirely serious. Not sure why we need to be imagining all possible negative scenarios but why don't we give it some time and see how it goes?
Everyone at the team is super excited and running a way with the source is no one's plan (even if it was: the code is out there and no one can unpublish it).
So let's all relax and think about the good sides. Like ... what would it be to have multiplied resources working on the project?der.hans, Mike Linksvayer likes this.
I'm super eager to see what having multiplied resources working on Jitsi projects does! I'd like to see competition from Jitsi lead to Skype, Hangouts, and many others to open source and interoperate or close down. How's that for a relaxed thought? :-)Mike Linksvayer at 2015-04-22T04:09:27Z
