I’ve poured a lot of effort into creating a light, fast, and seamless experience, with a minimalist design that’s packed with interactive media. The entire site, including rich media from my Google Drive and YouTube, weighs in at just 93 KB! Pure html+css+.js. Built with patience and the help of five AI tools – ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, BOLT, and Copilot – it’s still a work in progress, but it’s already a powerful buisness card. Over the past decade, I have reviewed over 1,000 cv's in search for the best team members to join our team. I see a lot of people in Israel in need of jobs these days so sharing some tips from my experience as a manager and Organizational Psychologist that I hope can be helpful. If you have any questions or additional insights, please feel free to comment below or pm me. I divided the job-seeking journey into 4 stages: 1. Self-reflection 2. CV building 3. Networking 4. “Dating” your future boss In this post I will cover some pointers for the first 3 stages. Next post will cover pointers for the last stage. *Self-reflection* 1. Self-reflection and understanding what you are good at and what you are passionate about. 2. Who are you - Need to be able to answer this in 2-3 lines at the top of the CV. Are you a manager and looking to be in a leadership role or more of a hands-on executive? Is your focus marketing/sales/coding/project management? Pro tip: Ask your friends to be honest with you and share the value they see you bring. It will crystalize your own view as well. *CV and LinkedIn profile* 1. CV building - how does your future boss know you are great at what you do? What success and impact did you have that you can articulate with numbers? 2. The design is great. But the most important is the content. Make sure clear description in the header what you do and keep it short, with bullet points and a 1-pager. Make sure no mistakes. If there is even 1 typo, it is a no-go. 3. Passion talks. Years ago I hired a young man with very little experience because he came with great passion and told me how he taught himself code at age 11. See how you can find that story that highlights your greatness. *Networking* 1. Networking and asking friends for an intro or to put in a good word. Identify 10 people you will have coffee with to brainstorm your career. Some will give you great advice. Others will give you a good lead. 2. Don't only think about networking with those who can give you the job today but rather with those who know people that can help you. 3. The best way to build trust is to show your work in action. I once hired someone because he reached out and explained to me in a loom video why one of my client websites stinked and how that can be fixed. He didn't tell me what he does but showed me. What tips have you found as a manager that you would give future employees?

Fiverr and #Israel A lot of people have suggested that I expand my business of Marketing Brand Broadcasting® to Fiverr, but I want to share my thoughts on why I have chosen not to do so. Has anyone noticed that Fiverr's headquarters are in Israel? By using Fiverr, are we essentially funding and supporting a company that contributes to the oppression of Palestinians? It's concerning that despite Pakistan's stance against Israel and the explicit refusal to recognize Israeli passports, Pakistanis are still engaging in work on Israeli platforms. Shouldn't we hold ourselves accountable for this instead of solely blaming the government? We often express support for leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Zardari Imran Khan, but would he ever endorse working on Israeli platforms or using Israeli products? Highly unlikely. Therefore, those already earning on Fiverr should consider transitioning to alternative platforms over time. And for those considering starting as freelancers, it's urged not to create accounts on Fiverr. Given Israel's actions in Palestine and the potential targeting of other Muslim countries in the future, it's crucial to think about the implications of supporting such platforms financially. Two years ago, we acquired an Israeli start-up (Adverifai) that was working to identify misinformation on the Internet. We invested heavily in the product and revealed it to the Cannes Lions crowd. I’m super proud of the team's work and all that investment. This year I heard from many customers asking me why Zefr didn’t also work on the open web. NO company can do everything well. Sure, you can do everything….but just not well. I understand that sometimes our customers don’t understand the difference between a robust solution and a check-the-box solution. But that fact doesn’t change Zefr’s commitment to the quality of our solution. When I look at our industry competitors (i.e. the legacy measurement providers), they clearly believe they are in the (static) software business. At Zefr, we understand that our business in safety and security is always evolving because the space is replete with adversarial agents attempting to monetize on harmful content. It becomes an aggressive cat-and-mouse game. The key to combating these agents of misinformation and brand safety is to aggressively INVEST. It never STOPS! That is why we maniacally focus on the walled gardens! It’s the space that gets most of our customer’s investment, AND it requires an ALWAYS innovation mentality to stay in front of the adversarial agents. If you are a public or private company and you settle for the “good enough” software mentality in the safety and security space, one day you will wake up and it won’t be good enough. The statement on Zefr’s Cannes signage could be applied to legacy ad tech companies. Building brand (or Ad Tech) trust is hard, losing it easy. #peanutbuttermanifesto

Yesterday I had the pleasure of pitching a major Israeli client. It was the last pitch of the day before they will be making their decision. The 4 others were Israel’s biggest brand agencies. Despite the fact that I have almost zero experience with the Israeli market, I don’t offer design services and I barely had time to prepare for the pitch, I left the strongest impression on the CEO, or rather, I introduced a new variable to the equation, making their decision process a bit more interesting. In many ways it was like comparing 4 apples to one mandarine. I can’t compete at their game because I don’t play that game. In not so many words, it was quite clear that each agency’s pitch was indistinguishable from one another. Each agency has done exceptional work for even bigger brands, and that makes their pitch a dog and pony show, ie. “This is what we’ve done for others, so you can trust us that we’ll do something good for you”. But in effect, each agency is showcasing design and fireworks. And because big agency work is first and foremost trendy (aligned with global design trends), it all looks the same. It ultimately becomes a question of taste. But this client wanted something different, and he was told I think different. So I kept it simple. I focused on one key argument that resonated. Apples use strategy to sell design. A mandarine uses strategy to let you imagine the role your brand will play in both the public’s eye, and the eyes of your different stakeholders. I promised not to include 3 visual directions to express the strategy. I even went so far to say they wouldn’t even get one visual direction. But I did make one promise that I definitely intend to deliver on. After I present the strategy, you won’t need to see how it looks, but nonetheless you will be able to close your eyes and see it clearly. And then I suggested we look at how my version of strategy can achieve this. I presented a recent strategy for a client in a different industry, but with certain relevant touchpoints. A strategy with no visual elements, but one that made it very clear how the business differs from the competition, transcends its category, and most importantly, captures a uniquely desirable position for its customers. I could see everyone in the room got it. That doesn’t mean I got it, and it doesn’t mean I’m smarter or more talented than any of the other fine people working at these fine agencies , but it definitely says something about the power of position, and more importantly, it says something about the pitfalls of a status quo, where often agencies have no incentive to fix something that isn't broke. My role however is not to think design, but rather focus on what comes before, on what a client can be, and to make sure I provide the best case scenario of how they can get there. #brandstrategy #position #narrative #bigidea

How did an Instagram account with less than 5,000 followers at the time reach over a million accounts in less than a month ORGANICALLY? (No paid advertising) Here are a few strategies I implemented as the creator and director of @ValorStories - a digital initiative highlighting the unique strength of Jewish and Israeli women during times of war. 🔍 Strategized Content When selecting women to interview for the series, I focused on finding those whose stories had minimal exposure on social media, particularly in the style we were pursuing. By introducing these remarkable women to our audience for the first time, we were able to deliver fresh and engaging content that resonated deeply with our target demographic, as confirmed by our research and statistics. 👂 Listening to Followers To build a community of young women online, we initially posted a wide variety of content to identify what resonated most with our followers. By analyzing engagement patterns, I was able to determine which types of content to prioritize moving forward. 🤝 Befriending The Algorithm The focus of this project was to provide Women of Valor a platform to share their stories through long-form interviews on YouTube. Understanding that the algorithm favors short-form content, I adapted clips from these interviews to share across our social media channels, allowing it the best chances to succeed in the social media landscape. 📱 Utilizing Collaborations Instagram's collaboration feature allows content to be shared across multiple platforms. By building offline connections with high-following accounts that shared our target audience and social media goals, we significantly increased the exposure of our content. Tech Transfer – Have You Tried It? Bridging the gap between research and commercial application is never simple, but it’s an essential leap for innovation, especially in the #foodtech sector that relies on deeptech and biology that takes time to develop. The journey often starts with tough negotiations over licensing agreements. Universities do an excellent job protecting their IP and ensuring their future incomes, and continues with the clash of cultures - academia thrives on exploration and discovery, while the industry needs fast, market-ready solutions. The timelines and priorities don’t always align. Medium Well Technological Solutions began as a spin-off from a concept that emerged at the The Hebrew University of Jerusalem . Like many ventures starting from academia, our path has been complex. But despite the challenges and the physical distance between our labs (initially 200 km apart and then down to 100 km…), we’ve managed to operate as a cohesive team, supporting each other every step of the way. The most important lessons we learned for positive collaboration: 📢 Effective Communication: we kept regular and transparent communication to bridge the gaps and align goals. 🔬 Leverage University Resources: we enjoyed access to advanced analytics, state-of-the-art labs, and experience across various fields. These resources can significantly boost a lean startup, especially in a sector as technically demanding as foodtech. 📈 Plan for Scale Early: We considered scalability and commercialization from the very beginning, and always focused on finding the right moment to transition from research to product development.
