Irish newcomer Neil Seery meets Brad Pickett at UFC Fight Night 37 in London

neil-seery-1.jpgResurgent Irish flyweight Neil Seery is heading to the UFC octagon next month.

UFC officials today announced that Seery (13-9 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has replaced recently injured 125-pounder Ian McCall (12-4-1 MMA, 1-2-1 UFC) and now meets Brad Pickett (23-8 MMA, 3-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 37.

UFC Fight Night 37 takes place March 8 at London’s O2 Arena. The entire 10-fight event streams on UFC Fight Pass in the U.S., and Pickett vs. Seery has third billing on the card.

Seery, a longtime Cage Warriors fighter and reigning titleholder who’s now vacated his belt, opened his career with a 7-8 record. However, since then, he’s won six of seven and currently carries a four-fight winning streak. The 34-year-old most recently earned stoppage wins over Paul Marin and Mikael Silander. However, a planned title fight in December was scrapped when opponent Ulysses Gomez was hospitalized trying to cut weight for the title fight.

Pickett, who’s won four “Fight of the Night” bonuses in six UFC fights, is currently ranked No. 5 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA bantamweight rankings. However, with losses to contenders such as Michael McDonald and Eddie Wineland during his current 3-2 run, the 35-year-old Englishman is looking for a new life at flyweight.

The latest UFC Fight Night 37 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 3 p.m. ET)

  • Alexander Gustafsson vs. Jimi Manuwa
