Iben Rodriguez, Security Architect
Currently an analyst for Gigaom, Iben creates comprehensive network security reports and works extensively with companies and organizations to implement the latest best practices for Cloud based networks. He also assists financial services companies to customize and implement Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmark hardening guides for VMware vSphere ESX, Amazon AWS, Google GCP, and Microsoft Azure. Integration of tools like: ServiceNow, Qualys, Splunk, Palo Alto Networks Primsa (Redlock), Terraform, Inspec, Forseti, Cloud Security Command Center, DevSecOps Security as code.
Iben Rodriguez started his security career in the 1980s maintaining the data communication systems used by military reconnaissance overseas with the SR71 and U2, followed by stints in the global pharmaceutical and fabless semiconductor industries. Over the past 10 years, he has assisted executive teams from both enterprise and government organizations in his roles as a cloud solution strategist and security architect at leading companies such as AT&T, Brocade, CA, Cisco, eBay, Ericsson, Huawei, Intuit, Juniper, Spirent, and VMware. Trained in Agile, ITIL, SOX, PCI-DSS, ISO27000 he works with product teams to shift virtual network functions out of the test lab to the operators.
As a volunteer for the Center for Internet Security, Iben leads and maintains the Benchmark Standards for hardening hypervisors used for virtual workloads.
Since 2014 Iben has been working with the OPNFV community to determine the best practices for networking and security when designing an automated virtual testing laboratory based on OpenStack. The Virtual Cloud Test Lab is a prototype version of this reference design. This lab was used to produce test reports like the Brocade Vyatta 5600 80Gbps done for Intel’s Network Builders.
