Innovation is the manifestation of Design
propelled by strategies & narratives

Alok Nandi works on the dynamics of innovation and narrative: he intervenes to decode complex situations and explore the co-design of transformation scenarios.
A triple education in engineering (Ecole Polytechnique de l'Université libre de Bruxelles, ULB), in management (Solvay Business School, VUB) and in film writing (Philo et Lettres, ULB), as well as his first experience at Procter & Gamble in brand management, have armed Alok Nandi to explore innovation in an agnostic manner.
Between 1997 and 2003, he implemented the web/digital presences of Editions Casterman (Tintin, Corto Maltese, Moebius, Le Chat by Geluck, Nestor Burma and Adèle Blanc-Sec by Tardi, les Cités obscures by Schuiten-Peeters, etc.) and of the Flammarion group in Paris (Literature, Medicine, Schools, J'ai lu, Delagrave, etc.), to then launch a spin-off in augmented realities and interactive scenographies which were installed at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie in Paris, at Futuroscope, in science museums such as Technopolis, Pass, etc.
In 2004, he founded Architempo and since then has been active in prospective projects, leading strategic design works, and supporting the implementation of design-driven innovation roadmaps. Decoding practices and patterns, Alok Nandi connects fields of action in a transdisciplinary way, linking entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship, innovation and “design thinking & making”.
Alok Nandi is represented by MINDS who will follow up any request for intervention, conference, panel or workshop convening on topics linked to #innovation #strategicXdesign #leadership #organisationXnarrative #storytelling #europXindia

In parallel to Innovation Design activities, Alok Nandi has been lecturing in numerous institutions (design, cinema, architecture schools, MBA programs, executive education sessions) and is a professor of innovation and design at the Lyfe Institute in Lyon since 2014, co-founded by Paul Bocuse, 3-star chef, and Gérard Pélisson (Accor Group). He is also developing Life Long Learning modules – w/ coCreationcamp, Klabfab.
In addition to his interventions in organizations, he was advisor for Lille 3000 and Bozar Brussels, and is active in boards of directors: past president of the Civil Society of Multimedia Authors in Belgium; past global president of IxDA, Interaction Design Association (150,000 members). He is an expert for the Belgian, Canadian, French governments, EU, in the sectors of new media, design and innovation, as well as education.
He has designed exhibitions (Cannes Film Festival, Cité du Design in St-Etienne, red dot design museum in Essen, etc.) and co-produced a feature-length documentary film (selected in 42 film festivals, incl. Venice). He has published books on cinema, design, innovation and dozens of articles, and was a radio columnist for BFM Paris on the IndeHebdo program.
Regular speaker in international conferences and events, he also founded PechaKucha Night Brussels, in connection with Tokyo, and organized 75+ PechaKucha events, bringing together more than 1000 speakers, between 2007 and today.

PechaKucha Night Brussels
The PechaKucha concept: each speaker has 400 seconds - 6 minutes 40 sec. - for a presentation in 20 images. Each image is on screen for only 20 seconds. No more, no less.
The PechaKucha format is devised and shared by Klein Dytham Architecture. The first PK took place in 2003 in Tokyo and today more than 1300 cities have PechaKucha Nights. The Brussels edition was launched by Alok b. Nandi in Brussels in 2007 and to date had more than 1000 speakers sharing their narrative in 400 seconds - this is 6 minutes 40 seconds.

TEDx
Alok Nandi was TEDx Antwerp speaker in 2024 at the Provinciehuis Antwerpen.
He also was speaker in TEDx Flanders in 2010 at the Antwerp Zoo.
June 6th, 2024 was #TEDx #Antwerp on the #Power of #Design ~ Being TEDx speaker there gave an experiential moment where the guiding theme of #design was intertwined with #narrative, supported by #actual #tangible #food. The audience had an entree where all the palette of tastes was offered, thanks to a co-creation we made with the culinary team. My story was connecting this food item to narrative inquiry to design practice. The bold claim was to “taste design”, from the plate to the place, Provinciehuis Antwerpen offering a fascinating architectural stage. Eating food and Food for thought in a unique setting; thanks @TEDxAntwerp and @APBC teams for creating the context for sharing our stories and triggering super conversations.
