2010 live archive release from the British musician and friends. In November 1978 after a short period setting up his own Polo Club, Ginger found himself in Berlin for a concert with his old friend Fela Anikulapo Kuti and Africa 70 at the Berlin Jazzfest. The tracks contained on this album are a magnificent blend of styles and one which went down exceedingly well with the audience. Although best described as a jam, the music is never boring or self indulgent. This high quality recording is a fine testament to the pairing of Fela and Africa 70 and Ginger Baker and captures a real moment in time where the language is music and the currency is virtuosity. Voiceprint.
This album is really a drum off between Allen & Baker. Some extra percussion but not much else even though it lists Fela's entire band. Having said this fans of the African drumming should love this
I was hoping for more of the Fela band soloing on horns. Mainly for drum-heads, decent record, but I would have skipped it if I knew what it was going in.
Two excellent percussion solos, but nothing else. The line up is excellent, but we never get to hear them! I was hoping it was a double disc, but not so. Big disappointment.
