Limited formability of AWA6082 alloy can be improved by applying a short time (15 to 30 s) annealing heat treatment before warm forming. The flow stress decreases with increasing temperature, the fracture strain increases up to 300°C and the true uniform strain remains constant up to 250°C, but decreases drastically at higher temperatures. After warm deformation further age hardening is achieved by a paint baking treatment. Formability was optimum at 250°C, which is the recommended temperature for warm forming of AW6082 tubes.
