Ricky Stanicky (2024)
Unfunny 80% of the time, mildly funny 10% of the time, mildly touching 2% of the time, wtf?? 8% of the time.
I'll say it... this movie is crap...a flaming bag of lit dog crap. I watched for Zac Efron. Why Zac Efron why? This is up there with Dirty Grandpa. John Cena was great in this, which completely surprised me. The songs he sang got old reallyyy fast though. As an intro to his character, yeah it was funny. Having to endure it anywhere else later on in the movie was just painful. The other characters were boring tbh. Zac Efron was the only other okay character. This movie seems like it was written 2 decades ago. It just didn't connect, it seemed sloppy and not thought through. Decent idea, awful script, and someone just put ideas on a dart board and whatever they hit went into the movie. I checked how much was left 3x and wished it would go faster. I honestly only finished it for Zac Efron. It wasn't worth it. The dog scene was not okay. At all. I guess I don't have the sense of humor that thinks it's funny to watch two dogs going at it missionary for 2 minutes. It's gross. Maybe I'm a dog prude? Whatever but it soured the whole movie for me tbh. I won't comment on a certain actor's face, as I see in other reviews. I watched because I've liked his movies since Greatest Showman. Plus, I think he looks fine, but then I never found him attractive back in our younger days. This movie was just an easy paycheck though, clearly. Sad he took several steps back after working hard to show he was more than a bro character and finally being taken seriously. Anyways, don't let your kids watch it unless you want them watching like 8 minutes of John Cena singing about playing with himself and want to risk them singing those songs. Or the dog scene, please don't let them see that. My teen walked in while that scene was on and while he at first was all WTF?!? Once I told him what I was watching he laughed and was all, "So...maybe less Zac Efron." Agreed. No more blindly watching Zac Efron. Anyways, this movie is crap and 4 stars is generous. John Cena earned those stars from me by literally being willing to say or do anything for the money he made in this movie.
The Little Mermaid (2023)
Her singing was the worst part.
I liked the main actress. Her acting was good. She was beautiful. Her singing was awful. She could t get on pitch and was trying to hit high notes that clearly she can't hit and it didn't sound good at all. When she wasn't trying to hit too high notes she sounded decent. She butchered these songs I loved though, which almost made me shut it off so many times. I stuck with it. Sebastian's little face was adorable and the voice actor did a good job. I don't know that I loved Awkwafina as Scuttle, but I didn't hate it and I adore Awkwafina usually. Melissa McCarthy did a surprisingly good job as Ursula. She clearly watched the original and aimed to mimic that character and she did a really good job. Prince Eric was not as dreamy as the cartoon character who was my childhood prince of choice lol and his singing was just okay. The movie wasn't awful so I give the movie 8 stars, but the awful singing the Ariel actress brings it down to a 6 and that's being generous cause her singing was just bad. I wish she'd spent more time listening to the original rather than trying to sing too high for her natural voice. It's a shame that she ruined these songs because I'm assuming she actually can sing okay but am not sure why she decided to aim so high and out of her wheelhouse here. It was disappointing. From hearing reviews I figured I'd loved her singing and hate her acting, but sadly it was the opposite. I loved her acting as Ariel and hated her singing as Ariel.
M3GAN (2022)
Lead actress was crap. Child actress was great.
I wish they had hired a real actress. The lead was horrible. She seemed to pause constantly to consider exactly how she wanted to say her line. By then it just came off weird and unnatural. She's not a good actress. She comes off very fake an unnatural. The little girl meanwhile was very believable and she came off as very natural and realistic. She did a pretty good job considering how young she is. The movie wasn't awful, I just found it hard to watch with the lead actress having such poor acting skills. I hope she doesn't ruin anymore movies tbh. Her character was at times wooden and lacking emotion where it was needed. At other times she spoke like she was trying to talk like a teen and it doesn't work for her because of her age, but also because she just can't pull it off. She didn't come off as a highly intelligent scientific nerd who is able to create highly elaborate code, because the actress lacks the refinement to portray that character perhaps.
Fall Into Winter (2023)
Wow it was awful. Did Lori Laughlin forget how to act or did she ever truly know how?
Okay, so I used to love Lori Laughlin in When Calls the Heart in the first few seasons. She wasn't amazing, but I guess I didn't expect much good acting from her back then, at least not enough to notice that she's a pretty crap actress. I see it now in this movie. I just loved the character in WCTH is all, I didn't love Lori Loughlin herself. So with all her personal life drama I was somewhat on the fence about watching this at first. I honestly didn't care much about what she did beyond realizing that she severely screwed up and did noting to fix it, just expected to gloss it over. Still, I like feel good movies and it seems Hallmark actors have all migrated over to GAC, so here I am giving the movies a try. Except that this movie was awful, like seriously awful. It was so boring and I spent 5 days just to get through it. I fell asleep on three different occasions because I kept putting it off til later in the night to continue watching and it would just put me to sleep. Her acting was awful, nothing could've saved this movie with her in it. The whole cast wasn't awful, just her, and the male lead wasn't so great either. He kind of creeped me out and there was zero chemistry and I just didn't feel the warm happy feels I get from Hallmark movies. So, I remember the whole big deal about GAC being the new network designed for family based Christian values and if you're a "good Christian" according to Candace Cameron Bure then this is the network you're supposed to watch. Okay, but then I see Lori Laughlin on there in a new movie and it really made me feel like the network is pretty blatantly hypocritical. I mean it's not like she didn't commit actual crimes...she really did and it was proven without a doubt, extensive crimes too. So if this is the Christian values network then why are they endorsing and supporting her? It honestly just kind of rubbed me the wrong way and sent me back to Hallmark. Hallmark seems to have something that GAC movies and their scripts are missing. The characters have no emotion on GAC movies, the spark is missing in the scripts even though it's the same actors and actresses. Why have they all become so wooden all of a sudden when they had so much life before?? Yet I've been watching because I grew to love the acting of most of the actors and actresses who migrated from Hallmark, plus I'm supposed to watch GAC now, right? If I want to support the Christian values it represents then apparently I should be watching this network, because that's what it represents. Except it obviously is a lie because it doesn't genuinely represent Christian values and it just represents bigotry. I may not be happy at all with the changes Hallmark made...so I don't watch those movies. I think the lack of numbers for those movies alone is enough to show them their errors and eventually they'll realize that they messed up and do something to fix it. However, it is hypocritical of GAC to claim to be the network of Christian values in all these news articles and then endorse someone who has been incredibly awful if you give real thought to the extent of thought and actions that went into her schemes and acts from a Christian perspective. It wasn't a simple "I was misled and didn't know better" situation. She created a web of lies, she misled, she bribed, she cheated and conned, many times. A lot of thought, deceit, and manipulation went into it all for a lengthy amount of time. This wasn't a small one time mistake, which is why she was convicted. Through it all and since then she has only exhibited entitlement, arrogance, and never once showed any remorse to make the public believe she genuinely feels bad about what she did or that she even sees the wrong in her prideful behavior. So, it taints GAC and whoever made the choice. These verses call to mind for anyone from GAC reading, 1 Corinthians 15:33, 2 Corinthian 6:14, Psalm 1:1-6.
The Engagement Plot (2022)
This movie is a mess. Old actors playing young ones...why???
So, I expected to really like this. I usually like Trevor Donovan and have been enjoying Rachel Boston movies for the past couple years once she began playing mature characters and acting her age, letting go of the cringe cutesy character she started as. She apparently decided to return to the cringe role in her 40s and it does not suit her. First off, she looks at least 44, even with all the makeup, so she absolutely doesn't pass anywhere near 30 and cannot compete with young 20 year olds...let's be realistic here. Her clothes in the 20 yr old bohemian style was just embarrassing. Her trying to play the personality that worked when she was 20...no, just no. Please grow up finally. It did not work and made this film so unbelievable immediately. Trevor Donovan looked so old and dried out...get the man some moisturizer please. He looked closer to 50 which was shocking to see his age progression from his more recent Hallmark movies. His acting was just not good in this either, and I usually enjoy his acting well enough. The premise for this show was hard to believe. I wanted to see these moments that led to them falling in love, but we didn't get real focus on it, so it was hard to believe that she fell for him and had her heart broken. Even more so that he seemed to really like her, and it felt like it was purely because she was the only older and not entirely infantile social media obsessed woman there. So whatever, he loves her but he doesn't even ask her about her comment about him being better off with someone else? Just went for the awful chick with no thought whatsoever. Honestly it says a lot that she was his runner up to begin with. She was the worst. So then to save HIS BUSINESS from the fall out of his stupid decision that he didn't think through at all...he decides he needs her back??? And she's supposed to just go back with him and forget and help him and make herself look like a doormat and idiot? Literally setting a bad example to all the women supporting her everywhere in her social media fake world. Such an awful script and story. I mean who wrote this and thought, "Yes, this is such a great idea to reintroduce him and bring them back together! She'll win him...in the end!" Nevermind the fact that she claims he broke her heart. So dumb.
Autumn in the City (2022)
Aimee Teagarden is the worst and I couldn't finish the movie despite trying repeatedly.
I tried to finish this movie 4 times. I couldn't. I find Aimee Teagarden so boring and lacking in personality. Also, I find her eyebrows so distracting...why do they stretch so far in between her eyes??? She makes the most miserable expressions all the time and it shows all over her face in her permanent lines. She is just so hard to watch and listen to. There's nothing natural about her acting because she comes across as uncomfortable in every scene or like she's trying to mimic a child the rest of the time. I don't get how she's supposed to be 30 but she comes off as looking and seeming like she's in her 40s cause she looks rough. Meanwhile the male lead looks really young next to her. He was fine in this, no real complaints other than his character needed more heart. He was wasted on her though. She really made the movie too difficult to sit through. This is the 3rd Hallmark movie of hers that I struggled to sit through. I really don't get why they keep casting her? She seems to be portraying characters who are youthful and full of life, but she is the oldest and most dead inside "young" person I've seen on the Hallmark channel. I love the Autumn movies and wish there were more of them, so I hate that there's one that I couldn't sit through. Her character and her portrayal of the character were just insufferable. I mean seriously? How is a 30 year old so incompetent and clueless??? Especially one who supposedly helped run a family business. I mean wow, and she's ungrateful and honestly not a character I felt I could root for. I really hope this is the last movie she ruins though. There are better actresses out there. Please find them Hallmark.
Christmas Bedtime Stories (2022)
Ugh could've been a tear jerker that warmed the heart. It's the opposite.
This started off well. It could've had some PS I Love You potential. Instead it was depressing and nonsensical. It introduced a character to root for...the male lead. It made him so appealing and likeable. I didn't get that they were a couple at first, because there wasn't any romantic sign yet. A little sad I didn't get to see them fall in love.
The movie focused on showing us how much he loves her and that her and her daughter love him too. Then they introduce her husband and it all felt sad and uncomfortable, because it became clear that this woman is obsessed with her ex and leading on the fiancé. It made me hope she'd find peace with the ex and realize she could lose a good man who has been there filling the role for her and her daughter for years now. But no... no sweet dead husband sending messages letting her know she should move on. No growth whatsoever, in fact the opposite because she was now leading her daughter to move away from healthy healing as well. It's easy to believe that dead hubby is sending her on a trip down memory lane with the ultimate goal of giving her the green light to be happy with his amazing best friend who he loved as a brother. That could've been beautiful and inspiring and shown how to move on in a healthy way while giving some bit of reminiscent hope to those missing a dead loved one during the holidays and feeling their presence. That's fine. What isn't fine is the ending where she ruins things with the fiancé and carelessly allows her daughter to be alone and depressed because of it. Her thoughtlessly shaking up the girls world again, losing someone almost as important as her dad, who she has known longer and better. Then suddenly the dad comes back and looks like he hasn't been through anything? How idiotic, unrealistic, and just ignorant of the writer. Very thoughtless ending for those in a similar situation as this woman. Her character deserved to be a mentally healthy and balanced parent, who after several years had healed and was ready to move her life forward and no longer live in the past. She deserved a goodbye to her dead hubby and to peacefully move her and her daughter on, for their own mental well being. This mess of an ending ruined her struggles and path. The better ending should've been her receiving word on his death from a survivor, a letter or two telling her he loves her and wants her to move on, and some note about his best friend or to his best friend, the fiancé. Then the fiancé shows up to be there for the little girl and the mom realizes it's time to say goodbye and be with the man she's been afraid to open to and felt guilty about loving. That would've been nice and given me all the warm feels. That's a happy ending, giving her the blessing of dead hubby to be with man she loved. Not the awkwardness of what the script writer did.
A Maple Valley Christmas (2022)
Really wanted to love this...but this movie made it hard to.
I watched this for the male lead. Rarely does a movie go wrong with him in the male lead role. Until his film. His character was unsure of himself, he came off as both falsely overconfident with no power whatsoever and because of that meakly weak and aimless at the same time. I feel like the poor guy had an awful childhood, but come on a lot of us did and yet he had so many advantages and wealth and the script didn't give us much as far as his character goes. The script had a lot of filler actually. The female lead was very off-putting and constantly defensive. At first I felt like whoa calm down there and I seriously disliked her, until I realized how awful her family is to her. They're completely dismissive, self-centered, manipulative, and unfeeling when it comes to her. Her mom is incredibly selfish, abandoning her daughter's (who already have abandonment issues) to move to another country to be with a man she hasn't known long who seems like an awful and unrealistic match for her. Her reactions to her daughter feeling bothered by it all are cold and heartless too. Basically, "I don't care so get over it." Her sister is the worst though. She's completely manipulative and controlling, while gaslighting her sister into thinking that's how she is. I felt uncomfortable watching it. It seems like the mom and sister are exactly the same and older sister has been holding it all together while being dismissed, talked down to, and mistreated since the dad left. No wonder she's such a wreck. It's clear that her mom knows nothing about the business, so clearly she didn't actually run it and yet couldn't just give it to the sister who actually runs things and keeps the money coming in? No wonder she's so on edge and such a train wreck. The way her sister manipulated her into an apology and got everything she wants after first putting her older sister through emotional hell first, rather than accepting what was originally offered? The sister was awful. I really disliked the characters in this movie. Plus, the whole kissing the guy she literally just met who hasn't shown any interest beyond kindness, and acting like that was some great destined thing. I mean wow, how desperate. I hope the person who wrote this never writes again for Hallmark because this was awful.
Brave New World (2020)
I found it dull and lacking.
I vaguely recall being told to read this book Senior year, I don't remember anything about the book. So my review isn't based on a comparison between book and show. I watched all episodes, so I'm not basing on the pilot. I didn't care for this show though. It was boring, it was missing something. The cast were great, the scenery was amazing. It looks like a film with a legit budget. I found the plot and story to drag on and be boring. They had to use sex as filler so often because there just wasn't enough story or dialogue. The nudity was honestly lame and gross. I'm not trying to look at gross saggy bodies writhing embarrassingly. Not the main actors, they looked good. There was absolutely nothing sexy about this show though. I'm the type who will sit through a season once I start it, unless it is absolutely awful and I hate it. I didn't hate this, but I didn't enjoy it either.
Quantum Leap (2022)
Interesting and entertaining.
I'm surprised about the negative reviews. I wasn't around for the original I don't think and I don't care to compare to that anyways. This on its own is good. It's entertaining without being cheesy or over the top. It's not trying to get into the super science aspects of it for the people who have tear that apart. Is it entirely believable...probably not but I like it. I like the romance aspect of it. I like the main actors. So far the weird hacker woman trying to gain access from outside the group makes no sense, so either she'll add to it or be a dumb thing to have added to the story. Either way this show is a pleasant way to spend my time.
Werewolf by Night (2022)
This didn't feel like Disney, was boring and lacked any magic.
I genuinely don't get the high reviews. This didn't feel like Disney. The cast was great. The script and story were non existent. It felt like deleted scenes from a film. My kids and I went into this hoping for something a little spooky and fun. Nope. This is boring, really boring. I have nothing good to say about it. I feel bad for the cast who got stuck in a Disney movie with a director who doesn't get the Disney formula. This had potential but was garbage that we'll never watch again. I honestly can't believe this was Disney. Is the director a film student who won an opportunity to make a film? That's what this feels like. Exactly what this feels like. This doesn't feel like Disney level stuff. Then again all year Disney has put out stuff that doesn't quite feel like Disney. So whoever is churning out Disney films and shows has lost touch of what Disney was and the magic we've all come to expect and love. Disney is no more I guess. I won't be renewing my subscription come January.
The Villains of Valley View (2022)
Is Disney so unoriginal that they'll copy the Thunderman's from Nickelodeon???
This show is awful. Expected to watch it with my kids and love it and we were all shocked to find it was a Thunderman's knock off. We loved Thunderman's and my kids still watch it from time to time. How is this even allowed? They even copied Electress' powers for the mom, they just made sure the Disney version was unattractive. This show is crap. We knew the brother would be trying to be good, because of course he's Max Thunderman's alter ego in this. Nickelodeon why aren't you suing over this ripoff??? This garbage show could've been ok...maybe... if they didn't literally copy Thunderman's and instead wrote something original with a somewhat similar premise but unique story. This was just a complete ripoff reverse and even the script seems copied minus the humor. The worst Disney show ever.
Plus One at an Amish Wedding (2022)
Enjoyed it. Sweet, but unrealistic.
I am not Amish so I cannot pretend to know their ways and customs. That being said, I have always been under the impression that Amish people do not do schooling beyond 8th grade. So, how did the male lead character manage entirely on his own, to get into college with no high school education, transcript, and make it all the way as a veterinarian? I genuinely don't think it would have been possible. That little mistake kind of stuck in my head the whole movie. The movie was cute and I enjoyed it though. That mom and their beliefs seemed terrifying tbh. It made it seem like the Amish tend to hate everyone who isn't Amish. The Amish ex was really flirtatious which seems also out of character for Amish. The sister had no accent and spoke like a typical teen, so that added to the hard to believe aspect. Still, I really enjoyed it and adored the two leads. They were so great and sweet together and had such believable chemistry. Would love to see them in more, except perhaps on Hallmark and not Amish. Just playing normal American people who fall in love or whatever.
Maggie (2022)
Loved the show, wish Maggie was given better choices in men.
I loved the show. I loved Maggie. I loved the premise and story. I loved the secondary characters. I disliked the men offered up for Maggie. I didn't find them attractive or appealing at all. A man child who is lazy and won't ever grow up...? How did she not see an awful future with him where she watches kids while he plays video games all day and night? He was gross and I really wish he was at least attractive or genuinely funny rather than sarcastic and ironic in an attempt to hide or disguise his issues. The main man who we're supposed to root for with Maggie...just no, right off the bat. He didn't win me over in any way...for Maggie. He had chemistry and a crazy long history with Jessie and and that's who I wanted to see him with. If Maggie was end game then they shouldn't have given him a wonderful childhood love and shown us that past bond so strongly. To then try to paint this potential future with Maggie just made me feel conflicted because that's not what I want and why would Maggie want that at the expense of what he has with Jessie? There's no way he can ever move past the past he had with Jessie...literally since childhood. So why go there? Give Maggie a handsome man, with some goals, who is supportive of her, and who she can just be herself with. Maybe one who for some reason she absolutely cannot get visions from, so her mind gets a break and some peace. I hope this is continued into another season or 2 because I really like it and would like to see some character growth because it has good bones and can only get better from here. But give us a guy that we actually want to see win and deserve Maggie's heart, not a guy for her to settle for...preferably as attractive as Maggie.
Ghosts (2021)
Refreshing and kept me laughing and entertained.
I actually really enjoyed this show's first season. I loved all the characters and I think the cast did great. My kids sat through several episodes of the show and found it hilarious. There is some talk that I feel wasn't necessary in the show since it has a PG rating. I feel like PG should mean kid friendly. It wasn't entirely though, unless sex talks are something you'd like to have to do sooner rather than later. Thankfully my 10 year old missed those scenes and just saw all the light funny stuff as I was watching. My teenager found it to be funny and liked the show when he watched it. I really enjoyed the show because it was light hearted and didn't take itself serious. I wish it had come out during covid lock downs because that's the kind of show I needed to make me laugh and feel better. I look forward to another season...please don't cancel this show.
The Terminal List (2022)
Did Chris Pratt forget how to act? Sounds like Andy Dwyer or Emmett trying to act like an actor. So cringe in this.
What's up with Chris Pratt? He seems like he's acting as Andy Dwyer trying to act like an action star. His voice is so cringe and over the top in this that it seems like a parody of an action film. Or like he can't let go of Emmett's Lego movie voice and he has become an amalgamation of his old character voices. Everyone else in this is realistic and sound like a normal person with a normal voice. So, I really don't know what Chris Pratt is doing with this weird voice he's making. It really ruined the show for me because he's overacting badly. I expected to really like this but I can't focus on anything but the weird voices he's making, like he can't find the right voice so he changes it up. I honestly can't make it through a whole season of his weird voice. I love Andy Dwyer, I love Emmett, and really liked all his movies. This level of acting is worse than when he started on Everwood, so confusing and weird. Really disappointed.
The Bubble (2022)
Wow this sucked. Trailer looked hilarious, it was garbage though.
I thought this movie was going to be hilarious. The trailer made it look stupid, but really funny. My kids watched the trailer and thought it looked funny. I am so glad that they forgot about it long enough for me to start it without them. I quickly discovered that this definitely isn't a movie for kids, not even for my 14 year old. It had the stupidest and most unnecessary sex scenes. I honestly feel really embarrassed for the actors and actresses who took part in this and had those embarrassing sex scenes. The Jumanji actress especially, I'd think after Jumanji she wouldn't be so desperate to take on any crap role sent her way. I loved her in Jumanji, but wow this really showcased how much she can't act, and I don't mean the Cliff Beasts scenes where they were supposed to be bad acting. This movie had so much crap put in that was just so unnecessary and innapropriate that I almost shut it off so many times. The only reason I finished it is because I finish movies that I start. This was garbage though, just awful and it barely made me laugh in a few scenes. The story idea was great, but whoever directed it just doesn't get that people expect more nowadays and that there's things that really work against a movie. It's like this director is still obsessed with Animal House, not getting that that's old and doesnt work today, and attempts to copy the format of it without any real story. I'm seriously feeling done with Netflix because of this movie. Netflix just really doesn't get it and with my subscriptions to Prime, Hulu, HBO, Disney, and Frndly I like so many others don't even need Netflix because everything Netflix puts out is so incredibly subpar, with very few exceptions. Anyways, back to the movie the youngest actress is surprisingly the better of them all and she wasn't all that good. For her first real acting job, she'll improve and do better guaranteed. Anyways, yeah I'm removing another star down to just 1. The depiction of drug use was just too much as well. Netflix is mostly watched by teens as that's who Netflix really caters to, and Netflix accepts no responsibility for the crap they're trying to get teens to watch. Problem is that parents are the ones paying for the Netflix and when we get sick of all the awful garbage our teens are being exposed to, Netflix gets canceled. They intentionally made the trailer seem like something a family could watch. Yes, I get that it's rated R, but a lot of stuff is Rated R yet acceptable for teens and preteens. I don't mind my teen hearing a couple cuss words leading to an R rating, but the unnecessary ridiculous sex scenes were too much. What bothers me is that the trailer was intentionally misleading and it was done that way intentionally to get the younger audiences attention, that's just not right.
When Calls the Heart: Rock, A Bye, Baby (2022)
Sick of the forced interactions, especially between Faith and Nathan.
Ok, so this is my least favorite season. It's been in decline since they killed off Jack tbh. Last season had my attention because of the love triangle for Elizabeth. She went the safe route though and it has been so boring to watch. To the point where I honestly don't like Elizabeth as much anymore because shes annoying now. Anyways, they brought in a new love interest for Nathan, seemed promising. I could see some chemistry and that Nathan was willing to put in some work. Then out of nowhere they start pushing Faith and Nathan??? Umm no. Faith has zero chemistry with Nathan, she's boring and not fun. They've tried giving her some story lines but honestly I don't care about Faith. She had her great story line with Carson. Carson left and honestly she should've left with him because she's not interesting except with Carson. Now suddenly she's acting all desperate and wanting Nathan. There is zero signs of him being at all interested in her, other than him being polite. They should've brought in a new doctor for him, they could've brought in the Doctor from When Hope Calls since they seem to be abandoning that show. She has personality and stories and traveled. She'd be perfect for Nathan, or a character like her. So I really felt turned off by Faith professing love for Nathan. I also am sick to death of Molly lining over a man who could care less. She deserves someone by now, she's been desperate for a man for years. Just give her someone already. This season waited til this episode for any kind of action. I love Rosemary and Lee but their characters are a shadow of what they started out as. They were so fun and confident and took over the screen in the first seasons. Lee was such a hard working man who loved his business more than anything, and it made him really sexy and confident. Now he's his wife's lackey even if they're trying to make it seem like he has this really great talent. His really great talent here diminishes his wife's dreams and talents though. I do love the pregnant Rosemary story line though, finally. Although, I feel they should've adopted that sweet little boy from When Hope Calls. Anyways, this episode was really boring much like the entire season. This season is just a mess and all the place. Fiona's role was just ridiculous and problematic. I liked her so much better last season. Hickam ugh they just trying. The writers this episode and season are hopeless and seem to have no idea what to do with the show anymore. Shame because it was really good years ago.
Warming Up to You (2021)
So sick of Cindy Busby ruining movies with her over the top bad acting.
I end up watching these movies hoping her acting has improved, and every time I find her acting unbearable. She comes off so fake in any scenes where she isn't being rude, bossy, or condescending. I just recently watched the male lead in two movies with Jen Lilley and Emily Ullerup, I loved both of those ladies in their roles. I enjoyed the actor's characters well enough in those movies to give this movie a try. I just cannot enjoy the movies with Cindy Busby in the lead. She is a really unnatural actress and she acts every every like she hates being there. I honestly don't get why they keep casting her. She was awful in that Mr. Darcy movie and has ruined good story lines ever since. Hallmark please stop wasting good ideas and male leads on Cindy Busby. She ruins movies that could've been good. Hire someone new please if you're sick of the same actresses. Retire this one.
My Spy (2020)
I don't get the negative reviews. My kids and I love it.
This movie was surprisingly great. It's light and fun despite the more serious story line. The little girl was wonderful. Bautista was great. The spy analyst was cute and added some additional comic moments. This movie had all of us laughing the entire length of it. It was sweet and refreshing. It reminded me of a cross between Cop and a Half and Kindergarten Cop, both of which I loved when I was a kid. This was a pretty family friendly movie for us. We found all the characters to be likeable. The people critiquing this harshly sound like they can't just have a fun time and enjoy a clean movie that doesn't aim to be a pretentious work of cinema.
How I Met Your Father (2022)
The script and acting are awful and unfunny.
I expected to love this and am disappointed to discover that it's garbage. Everything about it seems so fake and the acting is genuinely awful. Hillary Duff is not the best actress, but can be ok in a secondary role. She cannot be a lead because no one cares enough about the whiny persona she portrays. The only somewhat realistic actor was the engaged guy, everyone else was awful. Over acting, horrible script, characters that I genuinely dislike and wouldn't want to be around in real life. Hilary Duff is way too old to play a 20 year old. Her best friend is the worst, trashy and basic character that made me want to stop watching. The British guy is ridiculous and not even his body can save the awful acting and awful lines he has to attempt to make seem realistic. The Jesse guy is so boring and they tried to make his hideous shirt like Ted's boots, but he just comes across as someone I'd never want to talk to. His sister is even worse,
is she actually an actress??? These characters are so boring. Two episodes in and there is nothing that makes me care about any of these characters and I don't care who Hillary Duff's character ends up with. The worst script and acting I've seen in a really long time. Also, the drunk Mom calling her grown son to tell him this story is just ridiculous and pathetic. This show is a big nope.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Selena Gomez is so wooden and robotic.
I expected to love this and although I like Martin Short and Steve Martin in this, I really don't Selena Gomez in this. I loved her in Wizards of Waverly Place and expected her to be great in this. She isn't good at all and I really don't understand the glowing reviews. She brings the show down for me. She is completely wooden, like Kristen Stewart wooden...except on an antidepressant or something. She is entirely unfeeling and shows no emotion whatsoever, almost robotic. She speaks in a monotone voice and her face is fairly expressionless. Is there a chance that her character turns out to be a cold murderer...sure maybe, I'd have to continue watching to find out. Is she intentionally acting this way because that's what will happen? I don't know, but she's pretty awful in this and should try to make her character less guilty seeming perhaps. I expected to love her in this and now I don't see myself watching anything she's in.
When Hope Calls: A Country Christmas Part 1 (2021)
Didn't love it at all. Disappointing.
I went into this expecting to love it. I loved Season 1 and have been waiting for a new season. This was just disappointing. It's missing Grace and Chuck, and they're so important to the show. Sam doesn't even interact with Lillian anymore and I preferred their friendship, chemistry, and potential over hers with the constable. Sam being in love with the nurse isn't at all believable and she would've been better off with Ben. The whole episode was basically Sam getting bossed around by the nurse, and him kindly doing whatever is asked of him. There's no sign of chemistry or love at all between them, she barely looks at him ever. Plus, where did his personality go?? He didn't like being bossed around even a little, yet he's a doormat now. Lillian couldn't make the orphanage work and stay afloat without her sister working to support them. How is it working now with Grace gone? She literally has no help now and no income coming in at all. The children were cute but the little one missing bummed me out. I had hoped Tess would adopt him or maybe Grace and Chuck would. The character who helped dig for gold in Season 1 is gone and I liked her character. The only thing I really liked about this was the extremely late personal growth of Mr. Stewart...he needs much more of it though. The worst part of all of it was Lori Loughlin being in the show. It looks like they tried to use poorly done makeup to make her look tired and worn out...perhaps for sympathy? I have no sympathy for her though and no interest in seeing her in anything. I disliked every scene she was in and if she hadn't been shoved into so much of it I would've fast forwarded through all of her scenes. Her acting wasn't good, nor is Cody's tbh. Theyre very wooden and fake and they always have been. I don't get the reason for bringing her back, other than to get the fans to let go of the show because they need a way to end it. If she's part of the rest of Season 2 then I'm just not going to watch anymore. She made it very difficult to enjoy this Christmas special. Also, the Jack Thornton scene was ridiculous and made no sense. Why would he appear to Abigail and why in Hope Valley? Talk about trying to make her character much more important than she was. It was lame and ridiculous. That would've been a great scene if it had happened on WCTH between Elizabeth and Jack. Jack's spirit letting Elizabeth know that she has his blessing and that he's happy knowing she's moving on. That would've been beautiful and brought forth a waterfall from my eyes. This scene didn't cause even a drop because it didn't make any sense. They had to really reach for him to be there and it felt cheap and wrong and was just thrown in there for no reason. There wasn't a lot of story in this Christmas special either and it was filled with a lot of fluff and I genuinely found it boring. If the show doesn't return with more episodes, I'm fine with that because this Christmas special killed off the show that I really loved anyways.
Hot Chocolate Holiday (2021)
Didn't expect much, but enjoyed it. Male lead is gorgeous.
I went into this figuring I'd shut it off after 15 minutes. I've found myself doing that with several Hallmark movies this holiday season, much to my dismay. They did a good job casting the male lead. He's gorgeous and his acting wasn't awful. I'm surprised at the negative reviews on here. The female lead was a bit stiff but not awful. I sensed more attraction on her character's end than on his, which shouldn't have been the case. There was chemistry just not as much as there should've been. My goodness when the male lead smiles though, I can forgive a lot. Hallmark needs to cast better looking actors tbh and give their male characters better personalities, because I haven't been able to enjoy most of their movies this season. Their male leads are either unattractive or their characters personalities come off almost toxic to me. That's why I have been giving other networks a chance this holiday season and have been pleasantly surprised. Anways, I enjoyed this movie. I didn't love it, but I haven't loved any movies this season. Still, it was an enjoyable watch.
Cooking with Paris (2021)
The most cringe-inducing show on Netflix.
This show is garbage. I thought it would be funny, maybe show her trying to learn from real chefs how to cook. This is the worst thing I've tried to watch in a long time. She's a 40 something who still thinks she's 20, talks like she's 4, and has the intelligence of a 6 year old. Why would Netflix throw money at her??? Baffling that they thought this would do well. This show is like nails on a chalkboard. It's airheads pretending they know how to cook, and just looking incredibly cringe and stupid. I don't get how anyone can actually find this funny, except for the few rare people who may be more cringe and hopeless than Paris Hilton herself. I forced myself to sit through 2 episodes so I can rate it fairly, and I wish I could give it 0 stars. Netflix, maybe send out a survey in email and ask us what we would like to see made into shows or movies. That way you create things that are worth your money and our time, and you'll make something that people will actually watch. This is not it, this is so incredibly tone deaf and I'm scratching my head wondering which executive sat down with Paris Hilton and thought, "Yes, a show with her as the lead will be amazing!" This is just the worst of the many awful things Netflix has put out. Honestly, I'm considering canceling because so much has been utter garbage on Netflix. If they aren't putting out shows or movies worth watching, then why I am even paying for Netflix? Every month I find new reasons to end my subscription. Meanwhile, Disney+ is getting it right and I signed up for a year and wouldn't consider canceling. It's like Netflix thinks we'll continue paying them to make stupid people wealthier, while giving us less than mediocre content to watch.
