Decision Analytics utilizing Causal Models and Multiobjective Optimization (DEMO)
Table of contents
Project description
The mission of DEMO is supporting decision makers in making better decisions. DEMO focuses on explicit, concrete decision problems that can be presented with mathematical formalism. Predictive analytics, statistical modelling, causal inference, prescriptive analytics and multiobjective optimization are the key elements needed to create a seamless chain from data to decision. We refer to this as decision analytics. We also incorporate different (explainable) artificial intelligence methods in the elements of the seamless chain. Thanks to method and software development, decision analytics is applied to support e.g. other research areas of the University of Jyväskylä, especially related to education and health in dealing with their decision problems.
The University of Jyväskylä has received funding for DEMO from the Academy of Finland (in 2017-2021) to support in strengthening the university’s research profile in order to improve the quality of research.
DEMO is a joint effort of the Faculty of Information Technology and the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in collaboration with other departments of JYU.
