I have said this for many years, and it's good to know I'm not just a jaded ignorant naysayer who is out of touch with reality. 😅 Here are some of my observations on why I think agencies are broken. ⏰ The agency model is based on billing time (the dreaded timesheets!) instead of delivering value i.e. their business goals are to sell more time vs driving results that matter 🖼 Many creative agencies focus on delivering creative assets vs achieving marketing results, presenting a gap in the creative goals 💔 Creative processes and media strategies are often decoupled, missing out huge opportunities for marketing success 🤓 Agencies need to step up their upskilling efforts to keep pace with innovation and industry trends to adequately serve their clients With AI knocking on the door, agencies are feeling the heat to redefine their value proposition for survival. 🤖

AI and the Changing Landscape of Hollywood: A Grad School Perspective In my USC grad program, we've been deep-diving into the impact of AI across media industries. It's fascinating (and a bit surreal) to see these discussions unfold as real-world consequences play out in real time. Case in point: Hollywood is facing a staggering 40% downturn in production compared to 2022 levels. The LA Times reports that rising costs, the shift to streaming, and advancements in technology (including AI) have made it increasingly difficult for diverse stories to get made. This reminds me of a 2020 Hot Ones interview with Matt Damon, where he explained how the decline of DVD sales really shifted studio focus towards big-budget blockbusters and away from riskier, more original projects. Many folks don't know but a movie needs to earn double its movie budget TO BREAK EVEN. The question now is: Will AI exacerbate these trends or offer new opportunities for storytellers? As we continue our studies, we'll be watching closely to see how this unfolds. #AI #Hollywood #FilmIndustry #Disruption #FutureofFilm
