Imagination Publishes 28k Lines Of Linux Kernel Code
Imagination Technologies has published a set of 44 patches that add in over 28,000 lines of new code to the Linux kernel.
Before getting too excited, however, this Imagination Technologies open-source code isn't about their PowerVR graphics play but rather Meta. Imagination has introduced core architecture support to Linux for their Meta ATP (Meta 1) and HTP (Meta 2) processor cores. The Imagination Mesa cores are 32-bit multi-threaded general-purpose embedded processors that also have a DSP instruction set. These Meta cores are found in many digital radios, according to Imagination.
These v2 patches of the Imagination Meta Linux kernel port can be currently found on the kernel mailing list. Imagination also makes some documentation concerning the processor's instruction set and architecture freely available from their website.
