Baltazar begins to cry as she talks about caring for her sick aunt and the thought of losing the cremated remains to a wildfire that swept through this Altadena neighborhood in January.

She says she cried when she came back to the house and found it wrecked.

"I cried. Joy. Relief. Admiration for her. Pride," she said.

We can laugh together, cry together, scream in fright together, perhaps sit in devastated silence together.
