The author aims to show that the Isaianic text differs thematically from the typical prophetic genre in the Hebrew Bible, and illustrate how this literary development of themes and concepts have left their marks in 1 Enoch, a Jewish apocalyptic text from second century BCE.
The primary focus of this work is the literary text and themes in Isa 65–66, although another question is also relevant: To what degree, as a prophetic text, does Isa 65–66 also show up thematically or conceptually as discourses in an apocalyptic book such as 1 Enoch?. It is, therefore, the author’s hope to contribute to the discussion of the functional relationship between the prophetic and apocalyptic genre and their discourses.
