Usage / Intended Users
This service allows external users who do not have a regular CERN account to
get access to certain CERN applications that are open to external users. The CERN Lightweight Account
consists in your existing email address and a password.
CERN Lightweight Accounts only provide limited access to certain applications. For a full CERN intranet access, you'll need a
regular CERN Account, linked to a valid CERN Affiliation. Please contact your Experiment's secretariat or the
CERN User Office.
If you own a regular CERN account, you cannot create a lightweight account with the same e-mail address.
If you have left CERN and your affiliation has expired, a CERN Lightweight Account will automatically be created for you, using
the external Email address you provided before departure.
LightWeight Account Registration Process
You can create and activate your credentials following this process:
You must provide a valid e-mail address: it will become your login to access CERN
applications, and we may use it to contact you in future.
2. Validate your account
Once you have submitted the registration form, you will receive an e-mail with a
randomly generated link to validate your account. This step allows us to verify
that you really own this e-mail address.
If you have not received the e-mail or if the validation link has expired, use the
Forgot your password ? link in the Operations menu.
3. Set your password
By clicking on the validation link, you will be offered to choose your password.
This will complete the registration of your account.
