Joseph Wagner
US Air Force Research Laboratory, US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, Research Epidemiologist
I am a research epidemiologist with over twenty years of experience and coauthor of dozens of peer-reviewed publications and presentations. As either a team member or leader in various facets of observational and experimental research my expertise includes study designs and methodology, protocol and proposal development, survey designs and sampling methodologies as well as sample size/power calculations. Study areas range from technical and scientific studies to medicine and healthcare facility-based projects as well as public health and social science-based interventions.
Over time I have assembled a repertoire of methods for working with Real-World Data such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), chart extractions, survey data, and registries by utilizing standard biostatistical methods including (but not limited to) regression techniques (OLS, logistic regression, generalized linear models), sampling weights, mixed models, time-series, panel data, handling missing data (e.g., multiple imputation), survival methods, survey analysis methods, non-parametric approaches, and various data reduction techniques. Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning methods such as LASSO, elastic net, decision trees, and random forests.
As an established programmer in C++, SQL, SAS and Stata (including advanced methods such as macros and functions); I have branched out to a working knowledge of R and am teaching myself Python.
