It has disrupted education systems worldwide, leading to a forced shift from traditional face-to-face to blended or fully distanced learning, requiring a higher level of student readiness for self-directed learning (SDL) and a more internal locus of control (LOC). Objective: This study explored the relationship between locus of control and level of readiness for SDL among Saudi nursing students and whether the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted this relationship. Methods: a cross-sectional correlational descriptive study was conducted to survey 277 Saudi nursing students enrolled in the bachelor program in one of the reputable universities in Saudi Arabia. An E-questionnaire containing two scales, the Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for Nursing Education, and the Locus of Control Scale, was used to collect data in addition to the selected participants’ characteristics. A descriptive, cross-sectional correlational survey of nurses in inpatient wards (general medical, surgical, and specialized wards) and critical care units in a tertiary hospital in Saudi Arabia, using The Utrecht Work Engagement Scale. Using a self-report questionnaire, 426 staff nurses and 34 first-line nurse managers were surveyed. Data collected consisted of selected personal and professional factors, including gender, age, education, current work setting, years of experience, nationality, and participation in committees, and/or work teams alongside the 17-item version of the UWES. The study participants showed high levels of work engagement. Age, years of experience, and participation in committees were significantly associated with work engagement. Nurses w...

The present study aimed at assessing the Pre-decided one day surgeries among patients admitted in urology surgery department at the Main University Hospital, determining proportion of inappropriate days of hospitalization, and uncovering reasons associated with inappropriate utilization of hospital stay. Among 1607 reviewed records, 800 (49.78%) cases were decided to be conducted as one-day surgeries. Concerning the total Length of Stay (LOS), findings revealed that only 10.6% of these days were appropriate89.4% of the reviewed hospital days were inappropriate and can be managed for more efficient and effective care provision. Literature indicates that the majority of nurses experience some form of violence during their working lives. Managing workplace violence presents a problem which stems from lack of consistency among those perceiving and defining it. The consequences can be devastating, since it affects nurses' morale, decreases job satisfaction and altered job performance. The present multidisciplinary study aims at investigating the phenomenon of workplace violence among nurses and its association to their job satisfaction. The main results are that about three quarters of the subjects experienced violence in the workplace, verbal abuse and psychological/emotional stressing acts are highly perceived by the subjects to define violence, and that the later one is the most frequent type experienced by nurses. Clients and their relatives, as well as the administrative staff are the ...

Moreover, nurse educators depend on these predictors when they choose the most suitable teaching strategies, which enable them to manage adult learners effectively. This study’s objective is to explore the relationship between learning styles and the willingness to adopt self-directed learning among nursing students in King Saud University (KSU). Using a cross-sectional descriptive correlational design, the study was conducted with 230 undergraduate nursing students (female and male) from the third to eighth academic levels at the College of Nursing at KSU, Saudi Arabia. Kolb’s learning styles inventory and the self-directed learning readiness scale were adopted to determine the effects of the self-directed learning approach. However, many variables have been found to be correlated with health literacy across the globe. This systematic review thoroughly investigated the relationships between health literacy interpretation and the challenges faced during the delivery of key components of interventions in health literacy education. It was done using the 15 studies with 7,383 subjects. The three main variables of the study were the following: 1) language literacy, which most strongly influences health literacy in clients’/patients’ interpretations of instructions pertaining to their care (ES = 23); 2) influential factors in the clients’/patients’ ability to understand medical terminologies (ES = 20); and (3) practitioners’ estimate of patients’/clients’ specific need for health literacy (ES = 15). The extent to which patients’ expectations are met will influence their perceptions and their satisfaction with the quality of care received. Methods: A cross- sectional survey was conducted among admitted patients at King Khalid Teaching Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Data were collected (from January 2011 to March 2011) from a convenience sample of 448 patients using a 42- items questionnaire assessing six dimensions of the nursing care provided to, during hospitalization.
