Amazing replacement for WIFI, obviously not as good as Ethernet

For the purposes of my set-up, I wasn't able to run an ethernet cord to my room from the router as that would mean drilling multiple holes throughout the house. The WIFI connection in my room was spotty and frequently caused lag when watching videos, or playing any games.

I bought this powerline adapter to act as a "budget ethernet". Going into it, I knew it wouldn't be as powerful but was hoping it would provide results better than WIFI. It did! I don't have gigabit connection so I wasn't able to test that. My primary concern with my WIFI is constantly getting high ping in any game I played. This adapter provides STABLE and LOW ping in all games I play (for reference: on WIFI I would get 50-60 ms and frequently spiked 100+ ms), now I get stable 30 ms with rarely any spikes.

If you are looking to improve your ping and can't run ethernet, I would personally recommend this. My house/wiring isn't even that new (built in 1997).

Maybe if you put them in the exact same room, they'd hit advertised speeds. Not a terrible product. Beats running cables through the walls. There's no setup or software required... just plug and go.

As a side note it's recommended you plug these into sockets that are on the same circuit in your house. They do work if you don't, but you won't get anywhere near the speed of your internet. Some breaker types in panels interfere and can cause problems, but that's not very common in North America.

Overall I've managed to hit speeds enough for steady 1080P streaming cross circuits, so it's not that bad. Expect your speeds to drop if you have one connection shared by many people.
There's no built in wifi.

That's it... decent product. Could've used an app or an interface to tweak the settings, but it works well enough.

Works great even over circuit breakers

The device works just great. I haven"t pushed the speed tests yet because my internet connection is only 5 Mbps, which I achieve without any problems through the devices. I was happy to observe that it worked perfectly over different circuit breakers (same electrical panel). I was able to plug one device on a wall plug near my router and the other one in a shed 150 feet (50 meters) away from the house (built in 2005, quite recent). You only have to watch out for big appliances like a fridge that send electrical noise down the wires. The solution is to plug any such appliances on a power bar to reduce the noise. After doing that, the device led, indicating the quality of the signal, went from orange to green confirming that the quality was good (great feature). The only negative point I have to mention, was that it took 4 retries to enable the secured connection between the devices. Once done though, nothing to do more, it all runs fine. I still give a five star because this is a minor problem. All in all, works really great!

Low latency, but low speeds too.

Was really hoping to leverage something nearing 2gbps to backhaul a mesh node, but I was only seeing roughly 150mbps. Ping and packet loss was fairly good, but my mesh performed better using wireless backhaul. I figure it’s probably something to do with my apartment wiring rather than the device itself. Will hold on to them to try at my next place.

Returned product & got TP-Link AV2000 instead

Although the product was easy to install and it connected successfully, it was not as fast as expected. So I ended up returning it. I followed all the instructions & trouble-shooting including working with NetGear Customer Service. After speaking with Netgear Customer service, they recommended that I return it and try again. I returned but didn't re-buy another unit. I bought this product to help me watch Netflix's 4K shows/movies that require only 25mbps. My Internet Service Provider (ISP) is Bell Canada and I have their 1G unlimited plan (aka 1,024 Mbps). Although not great, plugging directly into the Hub3000 Bell modem, I get on avg 600-700 Mbps on my laptop, which Bell says is expected. Using a Cat8 ethernet cable from the modem to the main NetGear Adapter and then testing the speed at the closest electrical outlet to the main unit, the "slave" unit using another Cat8 ethernet cable was getting on average 80 Mbps on my laptop. Testing the slave unit in the 2nd-floor bedroom electrical outlet, the average speed dropped to about 50 Mbps on my laptop. The 2nd-floor outlet is about 10-15 feet away from the main unit, if measuring from A to B directly. Testing the slave unit in the 2nd-floor bedroom electrical outlet using the 2017 LG 4K OLED TV connected using a Cat8 ethernet cable, on average the speed dropped further to be less than the needed 25 Mbps to watch Netflix's 4K content.
The house is a detached 2013 home so electrical wires should not be too outdated.
*note* speed tests were done multiple times to obtain an average and were done predominately using Speedtest.net by Ookla. In parallel, speed tests were done using Bell Canada's speed test website and Fast.com, which is run by Netflix. The speed results on Fast.com by Netflix were always lower than the other testing methods.

Very easy to setup, worked better than expected

These are extremely easy to setup, they are just plug-in, push the sync button, and they work. I was also worried that they would not work very well, especially over long distances across the house but I had no issues. It is definitely not as good as ethernet would be but is much easier to setup and much better than wifi. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who needs to get better internet across their house and cant do ethernet.
On top of all this, it's not from a Chinese brand *cough* tp-link so it is a more trustworthy option.

Bought this with a bit of skepticism, but all I can say is WOW I am impressed!

Getting speed and latency measurements that are much, MUCH better then I expected them to be.

Was going to spend the money to add an ethernet jack to my room, as it is on the opposite side of the house and wifi signal can be poor (especially when outside). I connect to a desktop via rdp on my local network w/ a laptop, and always deal with poor connection and inability to maintain a 5ghz Wifi connection, as it would end up reverting automatically to 2.4ghz resulting in an immediate drop in performance of the rdp desktop.

With this device I now plug into it via ethernet, and my rdp connection thus far is excellent, so I am both impressed and very happy w/ this purchase.

Well worth the cost, though it is one of the more expensive ones it is (imo) definitely worth every dollar.

See the image for speedtest. Keep in mind I am using ethernet over usb c, so it may be an even faster connection if you are using an internal ethernet card/port (but I don't at the moment have means to test this).

The only complaint I have is that the device when in a standard outlet doesn't leave enough space to use the top outlet w/ a grounded (3-prong) plug. Only a 2-prong one would fit above it, so it does ultimately end up occupying the entire outlet you use. But since there is a plug passthrough, its not really that big a deal / a dealbreaker (at least for me).
