There is an increasing number of studies on nudging, a policy tool of behavioral economics, to ov... more There is an increasing number of studies on nudging, a policy tool of behavioral economics, to overcome environmental problems. These so-called green nudges have been criticized for not being effective enough. This study aims to assess whether the criticisms are justified in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to demonstrate how effective green nudges are as a policy tool. The methodology of the thesis is meta-analysis, which allows generalizations to be made by analyzing a large number of studies. The meta-analysis data were collected from a total of 85 green nudges in 59 studies published between 2011 and 2024. The mean effect size calculated with the random effects model was 0.313 [95% CI= (0.261 - 0.365), z = 11.896, p < 0.000]. This result shows that green nudges have a positive effect on pro-environmental behaviors. In addition, three different subgroup analyses were conducted in this study. In the first subgroup analysis, green nudges were analyzed by grouping them according to Sustainable Development Goals. In the second subgroup analysis, green nudges were categorized according to their types. In the last subgroup analysis, digital and face-to-face green nudges were analyzed. According to the overall results of the meta-analysis, green nudge has a medium effect size. Moreover, the true effect size distribution is largely positive. This suggests that green nudges can be an important behavioral policy tool for the SDGs, complementing traditional policy instruments.

Ancak, yerli literatürde dürtmelerin gerçekte ne kadar etkili olduğuna dair bir çalışmaya henüz rastlanılmamıştır. Bu çalışmayla literatürdeki bu boşluğun doldurulması ve ilgili konunun bütüncül bir şekilde ele alınması planlanmaktadır. Çalışmanın amacı, eğitim bilimlerinde uygulanan dürtme yöntemlerinin ne kadar etkili olduğunu tespit etmektir. Çok sayıda deneysel çalışmanın sonucunu tek bir değere dönüştürüp yorumlanmasını olanaklı kılan meta-analiz, çalışmanın yöntemi olarak belirlenmiştir. Yapılan literatür taraması sonucunda eğitim alanında 46 adet dürtme uygulaması analiz edilmiştir. Rastgele etkiler modeli ile hesaplanan meta-analizin bağımlı değişkeni, ortalama etki büyüklüğü, d=0,243 bulunmuştur. Bu, dürtmelerin eğitim bilimlerinde tatmin edici bir etki yaratmadığını göstermektedir. Yapılan alt grup analizleri, dürtmelerin okulöncesi ve ilkokul-ortaokul eğitim seviyelerinde daha etkili sonuçlar verdiğini göstermektedir. Dürtme iktisatla bağlantısı nedeniyle farklı özelliklere sahiptir. Eğitim bilimi alanındaki uzmanlarca dürtme tasarlanmalıdır. Dürtmelerin uygulanacağı eğitim seviyesi, dürtmelerin konusu, dürtme tipi ayrıntılı şekilde incelenmeli ve belirlenmelidir. Küçük yaştaki öğrencilere uygulanacak dürtmeler daha basit olmalıdır. Öte yandan, daha büyük yaştaki öğrencilere yapılan dürtmelerin etkin olmadığı görüldüğünden bunlar tekrar ele alınıp hazırlanmalıdır.

In this study, the relationship between R&D and growth is determined by the model which is produc... more In this study, the relationship between R&D and growth is determined by the model which is produced according to Cobb Douglas production function. Data were analyzed between 10 largest EU countries and Turkey from 1996 to 2018. The econometric methods used in the analysis are fixed effects model, random effects model, GMM and system GMM. As a result, growth rate is most affected by government budget allocations for R&D. The increase in the government budget allocations for R&D increases the growth rate more than other variables.

This study aims to explain the concept of rationalism and the reveal the efect of rationalism on ... more This study aims to explain the concept of rationalism and the reveal the efect of rationalism on neoclassical economics. First influence of rationalism on economics begins in the Age of Enlightenment. The Newtonian revolution is taken as model by economists and the methods applied by physical sciences are used in economics. The rational behavior has also been transferred to the economics at this stage. The field of economics adapted the system of thought in physical sciences into their own system; the rationalist economy perceives atoms as individuals, space as market, and force as marginal benefit. The neoclassical cult has been applied this in the most radical way. The rational behavior has become a sacred principle for neoclassicists. Eventually, the neoclassical cult-which bases on rationalism has reinforced its structure by adopting deduction method, emphasizing importance to mathematicalization, applying maximization and using the purely rational homo economicus. As a consequence, although rationalism has been used different forms in different periods in economics, has played an ifluental role in shaping models of economists and in the generally accepted assumptions of cults.
