Abstract: We report a measurement of the ratios of branching fractions $\mathcal{R}(D) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D τ^- \barν_τ)/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D \ell^- \barν_{\ell})$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast}) = {\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* τ^- \barν_τ)/{\cal B}(\bar{B} \to D^* \ell^- \barν_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing $772\times10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ events recorded at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. The analysis utilizes a method where the tag-side $B$ meson is reconstructed in a semileptonic decay mode, and the signal-side $τ$ is reconstructed in a purely leptonic decay. The measured values are $\mathcal{R}(D)= 0.307 \pm 0.037 \pm 0.016$ and $\mathcal{R}(D^{\ast})= 0.283 \pm 0.018 \pm 0.014$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. These results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions within $0.2$ and $1.1$ standard deviations, respectively, while their combination agrees with the Standard Model predictions within $1.2$ standard deviations. △ Less

We measure the total branching fraction $\mathcal{B}( \bar B^0 \to D^{*\,+} \, \ell^- \, \bar ν_\ell ) = \left(4.95 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.22 \right) \times 10^{-2}$, where the errors are statistical and systematic respectively. Observation of Transverse $Λ/\barΛ$ Hyperon Polarization in $e^+e^-$ Annihilation at Belle

Abstract: We report the first observation of the polarization of $Λ/\barΛ$ hyperons transverse to its production plane in $e^+e^-$ annihilation. We observe a significant polarization that rises with the fractional energy carried by the hyperon as well as its transverse momentum. The results are based on a $121.4$ fb$^{-1}$ data sample collected with the Belle detector at the center-of-mass energy near the $Υ(10860)$ peak and $16.4$ fb$^{-1}$ of data collected at 19 energy points in the range from 10.77 to 11.02 GeV. The relative production ratio of $B_s^*\bar{B}_s^*$, $B_s\bar{B}_s^{*}$, and $B_s\bar{B}_s$ final states at $\sqrt{s}=10.866$ GeV is measured to be $7:$ $0.856\pm0.106(stat.)\pm0.053(syst.):$ $0.645\pm0.094(stat.)^{+0.030}_{-0.033}(syst.)$. Measurement of $CP$ asymmetry in the $D^{0} \to K^0_S K^0_S$ decay at Belle

Abstract: We report a study of radiative decays of χ_{bJ}(1P)(J=0,1,2) mesons into 74 hadronic final states comprising charged and neutral pions, kaons, protons; out of these, 41 modes are observed with at least 5 standard deviation significance. Our measurements not only improve the previous measurements by the CLEO Collaboration but also lead to first observations in many new modes. We select a sample of… ▽ More We report a measurement of ratio ${\cal R}(D^*) = {\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow D^{*+} τ^- \barν_τ)/{\cal B}(\bar{B}^0 \rightarrow D^{*+} \ell^- \barν_{\ell})$, where $\ell$ denotes an electron or a muon. The results are based on a data sample containing $772\times10^6$ $B\bar{B}$ pairs recorded at the $Υ(4S)$ resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB $e^+ e^-$ collider. We select a sample of $B^0 \bar{B}^0$ pairs by reconstructing both $B$ mesons in semileptonic decays to $D^{*\mp} \ell^{\pm}$. We measure ${\cal R}(D^*)= 0.302 \pm 0.030({\rm stat)} \pm 0.011({\rm syst)}$, which is within $1.6 σ$ of the Standard Model theoretical expectation, where $σ$ is the standard deviation including systematic uncertainties. △ Less

Abstract: We present an extraction of azimuthal correlations between two pairs of charged pions detected in opposite jets from electron-positron annihilation. These correlations may arise from the dependence of the di-pion fragmentation on the polarization of the parent quark in the process $e^+e^- \rightarrow q \bar{q}$. The measurement of this modulation allows access to combinations of fragmentation functions that are sensitive to the quark's transverse polarization and helicity. Within our uncertainties we do not observe a significant signal from the previously unmeasured helicity dependent fragmentation function $G_1^\perp$. The results are B(Bs0->Ds+ Ds-) = (0.58 +0.11 -0.09 +-0.13)%, B(Bs0->Ds*+- Ds-+) = (1.8 +-0.2 +-0.4)%, and B(Bs0->Ds*+ Ds*-) = (2.0 +-0.3 +-0.5)%; the sum is B(Bs0->Ds(*)+ Ds(*)- = (4.3 +-0.4 +-1.0)%. For phi_s=0 we obtain Delta(Gamma_s)/Gamma_s = 0.090 +-0.009 (stat.) +-0.023 (syst.), where Gamma_s is the mean decay width. We also measure for the first time the longitudinal polarization fraction of Bs->Ds*+ Ds*-; the result is 0.12 +0.30 -0.28 +0.04 -0.05. △ Less

Abstract: The transverse target spin azimuthal asymmetry A_UT in hard exclusive production of rho^0 mesons was measured at COMPASS by scattering 160 GeV/c muons off transversely polarised protons and deuterons. The measured asymmetry is sensitive to the nucleon helicity-flip generalised parton distributions E^q, which are related to the orbital angular momentum of quarks in the nucleon. Abstract: We report the first evidence for the eta_b(2S) using the h_b(2P)->eta_b(2S)gamma transition and the first observation of the h_b(1P)->eta_b(1S)gamma and h_b(2P)->eta_b(1S)gamma transitions. The mass and width of the eta_b(1S) and eta_b(2S) are measured to be m_etab(1S)=(9402.4+-1.5+-1.8)MeV/c^2, m_etab(2S)=(9999.0+-3.5 +2.8-1.9)MeV/c^2 and Gamma_etab(1S)=(10.8 +4.0-3.7 +4.5-2.0)MeV. Abstract: We present a measurement of the branching fraction and time-dependent CP violation parameters in B0 --> a_1^+-(1260) pi^-+ decays. The results are obtained from the final data sample containing 772x10^6 BBbar pairs collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. The Sivers asymmetry of the proton has been extracted in the Bjorken x range 0.003<x<0.7. The new measurements have small statistical and systematic uncertainties of a few percent and confirm with considerably better accuracy the previous COMPASS measurement. The Sivers asymmetry is found to be compatible with zero for negative hadrons and positive for positive hadrons, a clear indication of a spin-orbit coupling of quarks in a transversely polarised proton. As compared to measurements at lower energy, a smaller Sivers asymmetry for positive hadrons is found in the region x > 0.03. The asymmetry is different from zero and positive also in the low x region, where sea-quarks dominate. The kinematic dependence of the asymmetry has also been investigated and results are given for various intervals of hadron and virtual photon fractional energy. In contrast to the case of the Collins asymmetry, the results on the Sivers asymmetry suggest a strong dependence on the four-momentum transfer to the nucleon, in agreement with the most recent calculations. △ Less

The asymmetries for negative and positive hadrons are similar in magnitude and opposite in sign. They are compatible with model calculations in which the u-quark transversity is opposite in sign and somewhat larger than the d-quark transversity distribution function. The asymmetry is extracted as a function of Bjorken $x$, the relative hadron energy $z$ and the hadron transverse momentum p_T^h. The high statistics and quality of the data also allow for more detailed investigations of the dependence on the kinematic variables. We measure CP asymmetry parameters $\mathcal{S}_{D^{+}D^{-}} = -1.06_{-0.14}^{+0.21} \pm 0.08$ and $\mathcal{C}_{D^{+}D^{-}} = -0.43 \pm 0.16 \pm 0.05$ in $B^{0} \to D^{+}D^{-}$ and $\mathcal{A}_{D^{*}D} = +0.06 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.02$, $\mathcal{S}_{D^{*}D} = -0.78 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.05$, $\mathcal{C}_{D^{*}D} = -0.01 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.04$, $Δ\mathcal{S}_{D^{*}D} = -0.13 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.04$ and $Δ\mathcal{C}_{D^{*}D} = +0.12 \pm 0.11 \pm 0.03$ in $B^{0} \to D^{*\pm}D^{\mp}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. Abstract: We report a new sensitive search for CPT violation, which includes improved measurements of the CPT-violating parameter z and the total decay-width difference normalized to the averaged width DeltaGamma_d/Gamma_d of the two Bd mass eigenstates. Abstract: Absolute luminosity measurements are of general interest for colliding-beam experiments at storage rings. These measurements are necessary to determine the absolute cross-sections of reaction processes and are valuable to quantify the performance of the accelerator. Using data taken in 2010, LHCb has applied two methods to determine the absolute scale of its luminosity measurements for proton-prot… ▽ More Absolute luminosity measurements are of general interest for colliding-beam experiments at storage rings. These measurements are necessary to determine the absolute cross-sections of reaction processes and are valuable to quantify the performance of the accelerator. Using data taken in 2010, LHCb has applied two methods to determine the absolute scale of its luminosity measurements for proton-proton collisions at the LHC with a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. In addition to the classic "van der Meer scan" method a novel technique has been developed which makes use of direct imaging of the individual beams using beam-gas and beam-beam interactions. This beam imaging method is made possible by the high resolution of the LHCb vertex detector and the close proximity of the detector to the beams, and allows beam parameters such as positions, angles and widths to be determined. The results of the two methods have comparable precision and are in good agreement. Combining the two methods, an overall precision of 3.5% in the absolute luminosity determination is reached. The techniques used to transport the absolute luminosity calibration to the full 2010 data-taking period are presented. △ Less

Search for CP Violation in D Meson Decays to phi pi+

Abstract: We search for CP violation in Cabibbo-suppressed charged D meson decays by measuring the difference between the CP violating asymmetries for the Cabibbo-suppressed decays D+ -> K+K-pi+ and the Cabibbo-favored decays Ds -> K+K-pi+ in the K+K- mass region of the phi resonance. Using 955/fb of data collected with the Belle detector we obtain A_CP(D+ -> phi pi+) = (+0.51 +- 0.28 +- 0.05)%. Measurements of the Branching fractions for $B_(s) -> D_(s)πππ$ and $Λ_b^0 -> Λ_c^+πππ$

Abstract: Branching fractions of the decays $H_b\to H_cπ^-π^+π^-$ relative to $H_b\to H_cπ^-$ are presented, where $H_b$ ($H_c$) represents B^0-bar($D^+$), $B^-$ ($D^0$), B_s^0-bar ($D_s^+$) and $Λ_b^0$ ($Λ_c^+$). The measurements are performed with the LHCb detector using 35${\rm pb^{-1}}$ of data collected at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV. The ratios of branching fractions are measured to be B(B^0-bar -> D^+π^-π^+π^… ▽ More Branching fractions of the decays $H_b\to H_cπ^-π^+π^-$ relative to $H_b\to H_cπ^-$ are presented, where $H_b$ ($H_c$) represents B^0-bar($D^+$), $B^-$ ($D^0$), B_s^0-bar ($D_s^+$) and $Λ_b^0$ ($Λ_c^+$). The measurements are performed with the LHCb detector using 35${\rm pb^{-1}}$ of data collected at $\sqrt{s}=7$ TeV. The ratios of branching fractions are measured to be B(B^0-bar -> D^+π^-π^+π^-)/ B(B^0-bar -> D^+π^-) = 2.38\pm0.11\pm0.21 B(B^- -> D^0π^-π^+π^-) / B(B^- -> D^0π^-) = 1.27\pm0.06\pm0.11 B(B_s^0-bar -> D_s^+π^-π^+π^-) / B(B_s^0-bar -> D_s^+π^-) = 2.01\pm0.37\pm0.20 B(Λ_b^0->Λ_c^+π^-π^+π^-) / B(Λ_b^0 -> Λ_c^+π^-) = 1.43\pm0.16\pm0.13. We also report measurements of partial decay rates of these decays to excited charm hadrons. These results are of comparable or higher precision than existing measurements. △ Less

Observation of B- to pbar Lambda D0 at Belle
