We model the Casimir apparatus rotating with constant angular speed using appropriate $κ$-deformed coordinates. We find the $κ$-deformed centripetal force on a single plate, as well as for parallel plates. We show that the Casimir energy, including the divergent part (self energies of the plates) experiences centripetal forces like a conventional mass. We also find centripetal force on oriented parallel plates rotating with constant angular speed in $κ$-space-time. Results show that the mass-energy equivalence principle holds in the $κ$-space-time.

We obtain the off-shell nilpotent Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin (BRST) and anti-BRST symmetry transformations (corresponding to the infinitesimal classical gauge symmetry transformations) for the St${\ddot u}$ckelberg-modified massive three $(2 + 1)$-dimensional (3D) Abelian 2-form gauge theory with a single pseudo-scalar field. The latter field (having the negative kinetic term and a well-defined mass) has already been shown (i) to exist in the modified version of the standard 3D St${\ddot u}$ckelberg formalism (on solid mathematical grounds), (ii) to be a possible candidate for dark matter, and (iii) to correspond to the ``phantom" field of some of the cosmological models of the Universe. A couple of highlights of our present endeavor are (i) the observation that, even though the pseudo-scalar field does not transform under the gauge and (anti-)BRST symmetry transformations, it appears in the first-class constraints which annihilate the physical states at the quantum level, and (ii) the Noether conserved (anti-)BRST charges are found to be non-nilpotent. In our present investigation, we derive (i) the coupled (but equivalent) BRST and anti-BRST invariant Lagrangian densities, (ii) the conserved and off-shell nilpotent versions of the (anti-)BRST charges and the conserved ghost charge, (iii) the (anti-)BRST invariant Curci-Ferrari (CF) type restrictions, and (iv) the standard BRST algebra amongst the conserved and nilpotent (anti-)BRST and conserved ghost charges of our theory.

This PS field, in all the above modified versions of the massive gauge theories, turns-up with the negative kinetic term. However, this specific field is found to be endowed with a well-defined rest mass because it satisfies the usual Klein-Gordon (KG) equation of motion (which is true for a real massive scalar relativistic particle). In these models, the usual pure scalar field (having the positive kinetic term and obeying the KG equation) is also present. The KG equation for the above PS and pure scalar fields are derived from the properly gauge-fixed Lagrangian densities. The PS field (with negative kinetic term and a well-defined mass) is a possible candidate for dark matter and it plays a crucial role in the cyclic, bouncing and self-accelerated cosmological models of the Universe where such kinds of fields have been christened as the ``phantom'' and/or ``ghost'' fields.

We construct and analyze a model of the neutron star in the k deformed space-time. This is done by first deriving the k deformed generalization of the Einstein tensor, starting from the non-commutative generalization of the metric tensor. By generalizing the energy momentum tensor to the non-commutative space-time and exploiting the k deformed dispersion relation, we then set up Einstein's field equations in the kdeformed space time. As we adopt a realization of the non commutative coordinates in terms of the commutative coordinates and their derivatives, our model is constructed in terms of commutative variables. Using this, we derive the kdeformed generalization of the Tolman Oppenheimer Volkoff equation. Now, by treating the interior of the star to be a perfect fluid as in the commutative space-time, we investigate the modification of the neutron star's mass due to non commutativity of the space time, valid up to first order in the deformation parameter. We show that the non-commutativity of the space time enhances the mass limit of the neutron star. We show that the radius and maximum mass of the neutron star depend on the deformation parameter. Further, our study shows that the mass increases as the radius increases for fixed values of the deformation parameter. We show that maximum mass and radius increase as the deformation parameter increases. We find that the mass varies from 0.26Ms to 3.68Ms as radius changes from 8.45km to 18.66km. Using the recent observational limits on the upper bound of the mass of a neutron star, we find the deformation parameter is approximately $10^{-44}m$. We also show that the compactness and surface redshift of the neutron star increase with its mass.

Considering space--time to be non-commutative, we study the evolution of the universe employing the approach of Newtonian cosmology. Generalizing the conservation of energy and the first law of thermodynamics to $κ$-deformed space--time, we derive the modified Friedmann equations, valid up to the first order, in the deformation parameter. Analyzing these deformed equations, we derive the time evolution of the scale factor in cases of radiation-dominated, matter-dominated, and vacuum (energy)-dominated universes. We show that the rate of change of the scale factor in all three situations is modified by the non-commutativity of space--time, and this rate depends on the sign of the deformation parameter, indicating a possible explanation for the observed Hubble tension. We undertake this investigation for two different realizations of non-commutative space--time coordinates. In both cases, we also argue for the existence of bounce in the evolution of the universe.

In this paper, we derive the non-commutative corrections to the maximal acceleration in the Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts (DFR) space-time and show that the effect of the non-commutativity is to decrease the magnitude of the value of the maximal acceleration in the commutative limit. We also obtain an upper bound on the acceleration along the non-commutative coordinates using the positivity condition on the magnitude of the maximal acceleration in the commutative space-time. From the Newtonian limit of the geodesic equation and Einstein's equation for linearised gravity, we derive the explicit form of Newton's potential in DFR space-time. By expressing the non-commutative correction term of the maximal acceleration in terms of Newton's potential and applying the positivity condition, we obtain a lower bound on the radial distance between two particles under the gravitational attraction in DFR space-time. We also derive modified uncertainty relation and commutation relation between coordinates and its conjugate, due to the existence of maximal acceleration.

Non-Commutative space-time introduces a fundamental length scale suggested by approaches to quantum gravity. Here we report the analysis of the Casimir effect for parallel plates separated by a distance of $L$ using a Lorentz invariant scalar theory in a non-commutative space-time (DFR space-time), both at zero and finite temperatures. This is done in two ways; one when the additional space-dimensions introduced in DFR space-time are treated as extra dimensions but on par with usual space-dimension and in the second way, the additional dimensions are treated as compact dimensions. Casimir force obtained in the first approach coincides with the result in the extra-dimensional commutative space-time and this is varying as $\frac{1}{L^5}$. In the second approach, we derive the corrections to the Casimir force, which is dependent on the separation between the plate, $L$ and on the size of the extra compactified dimension, $R$. Since correction terms are very small, keeping only the most significant terms of these corrections, we show that for certain values of the R, the corrections due to non-commutativity makes the force between the parallel plates more attractive, and using this, we find lower bound on the value of $R$. We show here that the requirement of the Casimir force and the energy to be real, impose the condition that the weight function used in defining the DFR action has to be a constant. At zero temperature, we find correction terms due to non-commutativity, depend on $L$ and $R$ dependent modified Bessel functions $K_{1}$ and $K_{2}$, with coefficients that vary as $\frac{1}{LR^3}$ and $\frac{1}{L^2R^2}$, respectively . For finite temperature, the Casimir force has correction terms that scale as $\frac{1}{L}$ and $\frac{1}{L^3}$ in high-temperature limit and as $\frac{1}{L^2}$ and $\frac{1}{L^4}$ in the low-temperature limit.

Quantisation of Lorentz invariant scalar field theory in Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts (DFR) space-time, a Lorentz invariant, non-commutative space-time is studied. Absence of a unique Lagrangian in non-commutative space-time necessitates us to use an approach to quantisation that is based on the equations of motion alone. Using this we derive the equal time commutation relation between Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts-Amorim (DFRA) scalar field and its conjugate, which has non-commutative dependent modifications, but the corresponding creation and annihilation operators obey usual algebra. We show that imposing the condition that the commutation relation between the field and its conjugate is same as that in the commutative space-time leads to a deformation of the algebra of quantised oscillators. Both these deformed commutation relations derived are valid to all orders in the non-commutative parameter. By analysing the first non-vanishing terms which are $θ^3$ order, we show that the deformed commutaton relations scale as $1/λ^4$, where $λ$ is the length scale set by the non-commutativity of the space-time. We also derive the conserved currents for DFRA scalar field. Further, we analyse the effects of non-commutativity on Unruh effect by analysing a detector coupled to the DFRA scalar field, showing that the Unruh temperature is not modified but the thermal radiation seen by the accelerated observer gets correction due to the non-commutativity of space-time.

We construct the $κ$-deformed conserved currents, valid up to first order in $a$, corresponding to parity and time-reversal symmetries of $κ$-deformed Dirac equation also. We show that these conserved currents and charges have a mass-dependent correction, valid up to first order in $a$. We analyze the effects of noncommutativity in conformal quantum mechanics (CQM) using the $κ$-deformed space-time as a prototype. Upto the first order in the deformation parameter, the symmetry structure of the CQM algebra is preserved but the coupling in a canonical model of the CQM gets deformed. We show that the boundary conditions that ensure a unitary time evolution in the noncommutative CQM can break the scale invariance, leading to a quantum mechanical scaling anomaly. We calculate the scaling dimensions of the two and three point functions in the noncommutative CQM which are shown to be deformed. The $AdS_2/CFT_1$ duality for the CQM suggests that the corresponding correlation functions in the holographic duals are modified. In addition, the Breitenlohner-Freedman bound also picks up a noncommutative correction. The strongly attractive regime of a canonical model of the CQM exhibit quantum instability. We show that the noncommutativity softens this singular behaviour and its implications for the corresponding holographic duals are discussed.

First, we perform a Moser-type regularization and then we proceed for the Ligon-Schaaf regularization to our problem. In particular, generalizing Heckman-de Laat (J. Symplectic Geom. 10, (2012), 463-473) in the noncommutative context we show that the Ligon-Schaaf regularization map follows from an adaptation of the Moser regularization can be generalized to the Kepler problem on $κ$-spacetime.

We obtain an exact analytic expression for the quasinormal modes of a noncommutative massless scalar field in the background of a massive spinless BTZ black hole up to the first order in the deformation parameter. We also show that the equations of motion governing these quasinormal modes are identical in form to the equations of motion of a commutative massive scalar field in the background of a fictitious massive spinning BTZ black hole. This results hints at a duality between the commutative and noncommutative systems in the background of a BTZ black hole. Using the obtained results for quasinormal mode frequencies, the area and entropy spectra for the BTZ black hole in the presence of noncommutativity are calculated. In particular, the separations between the neighboring values of these spectra are determined and it is found that they are nonuniform. Therefore, it appears that the noncommutativity leads to a non-equispaced (discrete) area and entropy spectra.

We derive the modified diffusion equations defined on kappa-space-time and using these, investigate the change in the spectral dimension of kappa-space-time with the probe scale. These deformed diffusion equations are derived by applying Wick's rotation to the $κ$-deformed Schr$\ddot{o}$dinger equations obtained from different choices of Klein-Gordon equations in the $κ$-deformed space-time. Using the solutions of these equations, obtained by perturbative method, we calculate the spectral dimension for different choices of the generalized Laplacian and analyse the dimensional flow in the $κ$-space-time. In the limit of commutative space-time, we recover the well known equality of spectral dimension and topological dimension. We show that the higher derivative term in the deformed diffusion equations make the spectral dimension unbounded (from below) at high energies. We show that the finite mass of the probe results in the spectral dimension to become infinitely negative at low energies also. In all the cases, we have analysed the effect of finite size of the probe on the spectral dimension.

We study presence of an additional symmetry of a generic central potential in the $κ$-space-time. An explicit construction of Fradkin and Bacry, Ruegg, Souriau (FBRS) for a central potential is carried out and the piece-wise conserved nature of the vector is established. We also extend the study to Kepler systems with a drag term, particularly Gorringe-Leach equation is generalized to the $κ$-deformed space. The possibility of mapping Gorringe-Leach equation to an equation with out drag term is exploited in associating a similar conserved vector to system with a drag term. An extension of duality between two class of central potential is introduced in the $κ$-deformed space and is used to investigate the duality existing between two class of Gorringe-Leach equations. All the results obtained can be retraced to the correct commutative limit as we let $a \rightarrow 0$.

We investigate the spectral dimension of $κ$-space-time using the $κ$-deformed diffusion equation. The deformed equation is constructed for two different choices of Laplacians in $n$-dimensional, $κ$-deformed Euclidean space-time. We use an approach where the deformed Laplacians are expressed in the commutative space-time itself. Using the perturbative solutions to diffusion equations, we calculate the spectral dimension of $κ$-deformed space-time and show that it decreases as the probe length decreases. By introducing a bound on the deformation parameter, spectral dimension is guaranteed to be positive definite. We find that, for one of the choices of the Laplacian, the non-commutative correction to the spectral dimension depends on the topological dimension of the space-time whereas for the other, it is independent of the topological dimension. We have also analysed the dimensional flow for the case where the probe particle has a finite extension, unlike a point particle.

The AdS/CFT conjecture offers the possibility of a quantum description for a black hole in terms of a CFT. This has led to the study of general AdS^3 type black holes with a view to constructing an explicit toy quantum black hole model. Such a CFT description would be characterized by its central charge and the dimensions of its primary fields. Recently the expression for the central charges (C_L, C_R) of the CFT dual to the warped AdS^3 have been determined using asymptotic symmetry arguments. The central charges depend, as expected, on the warping factor. We show that topological arguments, used by Witten to constrain central charges for the BTZ black hole, can be generalized to deal with the warped AdS^3 case. Topology constrains the warped factor to be rational numbers while quasinormal modes are conjectured to give the dimensions of primary fields. We find that in the limit when warping is large or when it takes special rational values the system tends to Witten's conjectured unique CFT's with central charges that are multiples of 24.

In this paper we study the deformed statistics and oscillator algebras of quantum fields defined in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime. The twisted flip operator obtained from the twist associated with the star product requires an enlargement of the Poincaré algebra to include the dilatation generators. Here we propose a novel notion of a fully covariant flip operator and show that to the first order in the deformation parameter it can be expressed completely in terms of the Poincaré generators alone. The $R$-matrices corresponding to the twisted and the covariant flip operators are compared up to first order in the deformation parameter and they are shown to be different. We also construct the deformed algebra of the creation and annihilation operators that arise in the mode expansion of a scalar field in $κ$-Minkowski spacetime. We obtain a large class of such new deformed algebras which, for certain choice of realizations, reduce to results known in the literature.

We calculate the index of the Dirac operator defined on the q-deformed fuzzy sphere. The index of the Dirac operator is related to its net chiral zero modes and thus to the trace of the chirality operator. We show that for the q-deformed fuzzy sphere, a $\uq$ invariant trace of the chirality operator gives the q-dimension of the eigenspace of the zero modes of the Dirac operator. We also show that this q-dimension is related to the topological index of the spinorial field. We then introduce a q-deformed chirality operator and show that its $\uq$ invariant trace gives the topological invariant index of the Dirac operator. We also explain the construction and important role of the trace operation which is invariant under the $\uq$, which is the symmetry algebra of the q-deformed fuzzy sphere. One possibility is to have a generalization of the Moyal product with a covariantly constant noncommutative tensor $θ^{μν}$. In this case the spacetime symmetry is restricted to volume preserving diffeomorphisms which also preserve $θ^{μν}$. Another possibility is an extension of the Kontsevich product to curved spacetime. In both cases the noncommutative product is nonassociative. We find the the order $θ^2$ noncommutative correction to the Newtonian potential in the case of a covariantly constant $θ^{μν}$. It is still of the form $1/r$ plus an angle dependent piece. The coupling to matter gives rise to a propagator which is $θ$ dependent.

Abstract:
The q-deformed fuzzy sphere $S_{qF}^2(N)$ is the algebra of $(N+1)\times(N+1)$ dim. matrices, covariant with respect to the adjoint action of $\uq$ and in the limit $q\to 1$, it reduces to the fuzzy sphere $S_{F}^2(N)$. We construct the Dirac operator on the q-deformed fuzzy sphere-$S_{qF}^{2}(N)$ using the spinor modules of $\uq$. We explicitly obtain the zero modes and also calculate the spect…

We construct the Dirac operator on the q-deformed fuzzy sphere-$S_{qF}^{2}(N)$ using the spinor modules of $\uq$. We explicitly obtain the zero modes and also calculate the spectrum for this Dirac operator. Using this Dirac operator, we construct the $\uq$ invariant action for the spinor fields on $S_{qF}^{2}(N)$ which are regularised and have only finite modes. We analyse the spectrum for both $q$ being root of unity and real, showing interesting features like its novel degeneracy. We also study various limits of the parameter space (q, N) and recover the known spectrum in both fuzzy and commutative sphere.

Abstract:
We consider the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory in noncommutative three dimensional space-time. We show that the Seiberg-Witten map is ambiguous due to the dimensional coupling constant. To get the dual theory we start from a master action obtained by promoting the global shift invariance to a local one. We also obtain the mapping between the observables of the two equivalent theories. We show that…

We show that the equivalence between the Maxwell-Chern-Simons theory and the self-dual model in commutative space-time does not survive in the non-commutative setting.

Abstract:
We construct dual formulation of linearised gravity in first order tetrad formalism in arbitrary dimensions within the path integral framework following the standard duality algorithm making use of the global shift symmetry of the tetrad field. We construct dual formulation of linearised gravity in first order tetrad formalism in arbitrary dimensions within the path integral framework following the standard duality algorithm making use of the global shift symmetry of the tetrad field. The dual partition function is in terms of the (mixed symmetric) tensor field $Φ_{[ν_{1}ν_{2}...ν_{d-3}]ν}$ in {\it frame-like} formulation. We obtain in d-dimensions the dual Lagrangian in a closed form in terms of field strength of the dual frame-like field. Next by coupling a source with the (linear) Riemann tensor in d-dimensions, dual generating functional is obtained. Using this an operator mapping between (linear) Riemann tensor and Riemann tensor corresponding to the dual field is derived and we also discuss the exchange of equations of motion and Bianchi identity.

We show that the non-commutative $CP^1$ model coupled with Hopf term in 3 dimensions is equivalent to an interacting spin-$s$ theory where the spin $s$ of the dual theory is related to the coefficient of the Hopf term. We use the Seiberg-Witten map in studying this non-commutative duality equivalence, keeping terms to order $θ$ and show that the spin of the dual theory do not get any $θ$ dependant corrections. The map between current correlators show that topological index of the solitons in the non-commutative $CP^1$ model is unaffected by $θ$ where as the Noether charge of the corresponding dual particle do get a $θ$ dependence. We also show that this dual theory smoothly goes to the limit $θ\to 0$ giving dual theory in the commutative plane.

Using Seiberg-Witten map, the first order in $θ$ correction to the spectrum is obtained in the case of uniform magnetic field. We find that the eigenstates in the non-commutative case are identical to the commutative case provided the magnetic field $B$ is everywhere replaced by $B(1+Bθ)$.
