A Coalgebraic Semantics for Intuitionistic Modal Logic
Abstract: We give a new coalgebraic semantics for intuitionistic modal logic with $\Box$. In particular, we provide a colagebraic representation of intuitionistic descriptive modal frames and of intuitonistic modal Kripke frames based on image-finite posets. This gives a solution to a problem in the area of coalgebaic logic for these classes of frames, raised explicitly by Litak (2014) and de Groot and Patt… ▽ More

$Π_{2}$-Rule Systems and Inductive Classes of Gödel Algebras
Abstract: In this paper we present a general theory of $Π_{2}$-rules for systems of intuitionistic and modal logic. We introduce the notions of $Π_{2}$-rule system and of an Inductive Class, and provide model-theoretic and algebraic completeness theorems, which serve as our basic tools. As an illustration of the general theory, we analyse the structure of inductive classes of Gödel algebras, from a structur… ▽ More

Polyatomic Logics and Generalised Blok-Esakia Theory
Abstract: This paper presents a novel concept of a Polyatomic Logic and initiates its systematic study. We introduce an algebraic semantics for these logics and prove algebraic completeness. These logics are then related to translations, through… ▽ More

Abstract: In this paper, we study a problem related to geometry of bisectors in quaternionic hyperbolic geometry. We develop some of the basic theory of bisectors in quaternionic hyperbolic space $H^n_Q$. A Discretization Method to Solve Fractional Variational Problems with Dependence on Hadamard Derivatives
Abstract: We provide a fast and simple method to solve fractional variational problems with dependence on Hadamard fractional derivatives. Using a relation between the Hadamard fractional operator and a sum involving integer-order derivatives, we rewrite the fractional problem into a classical optimal control problem. The latter problem is then solved by application of standard numerical techniques. We illu… ▽ More

Convergence of the Crank-Nicolson-Galerkin finite element method for a class of nonlocal parabolic systems with moving boundaries
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to establish the convergence and error bounds to the fully discrete solution for a class of nonlinear systems of reaction-diffusion nonlocal type with moving boundaries, using a linearized Crank-Nicolson-Galerkin finite element method with polynomial approximations of any degree. A coordinate transformation which fixes the boundaries is used. Some numerical tests to compar… ▽ More

Numerical Approximations to Fractional Problems of the Calculus of Variations and Optimal Control
Abstract: This chapter presents some numerical methods to solve problems in the fractional calculus of variations and fractional optimal control. Although there are plenty of methods available in the literature, we concentrate mainly on approximating the fractional problem either by discretizing the fractional term or expanding the fractional derivatives as a series involving integer order derivatives. The… ▽ More

An expansion formula with higher-order derivatives for fractional operators of variable order
Abstract: We obtain approximation formulas for fractional integrals and derivatives of Riemann-Liouville and Marchaud types with a variable fractional order. The approximations involve integer-order derivatives only. An estimation for the error is given. The efficiency of the approximation method is illustrated with examples. As applications, we show how the obtained results are useful to solve differential… ▽ More

A numerical scheme to solve fractional optimal control problems
Abstract: We review recent results obtained to solve fractional order optimal control problems with free terminal time and a dynamic constraint involving integer and fractional order derivatives. Some particular cases are studied in detail. A numerical scheme is given, based on expansion formulas for the fractional derivative. The efficiency of the method is illustrated through examples.

A discrete time method to the first variation of fractional order variational functionals
Abstract: The fact that the first variation of a variational functional must vanish along an extremizer is the base of most effective solution schemes to solve problems of the calculus of variations. We generalize the method to variational problems involving fractional order derivatives. First order splines are used as variations, for which fractional derivatives are known. The Grunwald-Letnikov definition… ▽ More
