Disjointly strictly singular inclusions between variable Lebesgue spaces
Abstract: Disjointly strictly singular inclusions between variable Lebesgue spaces $L^{p(\cdot)}(μ)$ on finite measure are characterized. Suitable criteria in terms of the (bounded or unbounded) exponents are given. It is proved the equivalence of $L$-weak compactness (also called almost compactness) and disjoint strict singularity for variable Lebesgue space inclusions. For infinite measure any inclusion… ▽ More

Strictly singular non-compact operators between $L_p$ spaces
Abstract: We study the structure of strictly singular non-compact operators between $L_p$ spaces. Answering a question raised in [Adv. Math. 316 (2017), 667-690], it is shown that there exist operators $T$, for which the set of points $(\frac1p,\frac1q)\in(0,1)\times (0,1)$ such that $T:L_p\rightarrow L_q$ is strictly singular but not compact contains a line segment in the triangle… ▽ More

On the structure of variable exponent spaces
Abstract: The first part of this paper surveys several results on the lattice structure of variable exponent Lebesgue function spaces (or Nakano spaces) $\lpv$. In the second part strictly singular and disjointly strictly singular operators between spaces $\lpv$ are studied. New results on the disjoint strict singularity of the inclusions $ L^{p(\cdot)}(Ω) \hookrightarrow L^{q(\cdot)}(Ω)$ are given.

Interpolation and extrapolation of strictly singular operators between $L_p$ spaces
Abstract: We study the interpolation and extrapolation properties of strictly singular operators between different $L_p$ spaces. To this end, the structure of strictly singular non-compact operators between $L_p-L_q$ spaces is analyzed. Among other things, we clarify the relation between strict singularity and the $L$-characteristic set of an operator. In particular, Krasnoselskii's interpolation theorem fo… ▽ More

Disjointly homogeneous Banach lattices and applications
Abstract: This is a survey on disjointly homogeneous Banach lattices and their applicactions. Several structural properties of this class are analyzed. In addition we show how these spaces provide a natural framework for studying the compactness of powers of operators allowing for a unified treatment of well-known results.

Subspaces of rearrangement-invariant spaces
Abstract: We prove a number of results concerning the embedding of a Banach lattice $X$ into an r.i. space $Y$. For example we show that if $Y$ is an r.i. space on $[0,\infty)$ which is $p$-convex for some $p>2$ and has nontrivial concavity then any Banach lattice $X$ which is $r$-convex for some $r>2$ and embeds into $Y$ must embed as a sublattice. Similar conclusions can be drawn under a variety of hypo… ▽ More
