The concept of “resilience” becomes a current issue in this process and it develops existing discussions on sustainability, management of risks and governance. Resilience is a capacity of system to cope with external unexpected risks. In the urban area, the concept means adaptation and coping capacity of urban systems against shocks and risks which may arise, disasters and emergencies. Kentsel aktiviteleri surdurebilmenin soguk iklim kosullari nedeniyle cok zor oldugu Erzurum’da kis gunesini alan kamusal alanlari tasarlayabilmek, soguk ruzgârlardan bu alanlari koruyabilmek, kenti yaya-bisiklet ve arac icin keyifli ve guvenli olarak oldukca ulasilabilir kilmak en temel zorunluluklardir. Şehir planlama disiplini boyle bir strateji icin onemli bir paya sahiptir. Bu disiplin icerisinde kapsamli bir sekilde gelistirilecek olan kentsel tasarim yaklasimlari ile kentsel yasam kalitesi artirilacak, kis mevsimi algisi degisecek ve bir kis ekonomisi yaratilacaktir. After serious ecological problems like urban heat island and urban air pollution in this century, researchers began to focus on bioclimaticand eco-comfort in urban areas. Air circulation or ventilation channels as one the climate and comfort related variables is essential for the mitigation of air pollution, heat temperature, cooling and ventilation. The main objective of this paper is to explore the relationship between the wind flow, air pollution and physical structure of the built environment in the city of Erzurum, Turkey.
