This past weekend, our team from around the world commemorated the launch of our new female-led premium wine line at Hello Sunshine ’s #ShineAway2024 event in Los Angeles. Shine Away is an empowering two-day event full of entertainment and inspiration designed to celebrate, cultivate, and connect women – the perfect place to mark Drop of Sunshine’s very first activation, as the wines are inspired by Hello Sunshine’s mission to shine a light on women.  At Shine Away, Drop of Sunshine was introduced to a collective of women and allies and invited all who dropped by to experience its blossoming community. We're heading into the final months of Penfolds 180th anniversary year. The team formally marked the milestone with a series of wine events and experiences at Penfolds spiritual home of South Australia, sharing and showcasing the rich history of the Penfolds brand. The celebrations included a commemorative event at our Koonunga Hill vineyard, where team members, partners, special guests and friends of Penfolds from around the world were invited to tour the vineyard and plant rows of Shiraz vines as a nod to the Penfolds legacy and their dedication to quality, innovation and sustainability for the next 180 years and beyond. Today, we’re very proud to launch our 2024 Sustainability Report. In the three years since we launched our refreshed sustainability strategy, we’ve made significant progress in our ambition to cultivate a brighter future. With a focus on fostering healthy and inclusive communities, producing sustainable wines, and helping build a resilient business, our highlights this year include: • 66% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions (scope 1 and 2) since F21 • 24 solar projects switched on in F24, with an expected investment of almost A$30 million on our onsite solar capacity by 2025 • 99.2% of sustainability certifications maintained across owned and leased winery and vineyard sites globally • Smart water meters installed in 94% of sites operating in high-risk catchment areas • 39% reduction in the three-year rolling Serious Safety Incident Frequency Rate • 100% of primary risk assessments completed for all contracted spend within the supply chain Michael Parks, TWE’s Global Sustainability Director, said “Sustainability has become embedded in our business, with our global teams getting involved in initiatives that are delivering significant outcomes for our business and the communities that we operate in. As a global agricultural business operating in some of the world’s most famous wine making regions, we recognise our impact on the natural environment and our exposure to the impacts of the changing climate.”   When it comes to treasuring every drop of water, we give a dam. We’re always looking for opportunities to integrate artificial intelligence across our business in ways that support our strategic priorities and add value. We recently collaborated with the team at GPTStrategic - Generative AI-powered Solutions to develop a solution using GenAI to help us distill our consumer data into valuable insights and Mooning to bring them to life. The output? Our new AI Agents Aivi and Viti! Unique to TWE, Avi and Viti are powered by our research data and allow us to efficiently analyse and interpret the information to ensure our strategies are informed by rich consumer insights. We put consumers at the heart of everything we do at TWE, and it’s something that’s always front of mind in our decision making. The initiative was driven by Adele Felsch and her team, who was recently recognised at the 2024 TWE Annual Awards, taking home the Innovation Award for her work on this project. This year's harvest is well underway across our wineries in the northern hemisphere. Our teams are picking fruit from France and Italy, all the way to the United States. At DAOU Mountain in California the team are thrilled to kick off the season in style with DAOU Vineyards Founder and Chief Winemaker, Daniel Daou, officiating the harvest celebrations with some artful sabrage. This year saw plenty of winter rainfall with a total of 21 inches replenishing the soils and promoting robust canopy development. Temperatures were mild through the Californian spring and early summer, followed by a steady warming trend starting in early July, allowing the fruit to shape beautifully on the vine. "As a leader, I have the opportunity to play a part in creating a more inclusive society, and I have a responsibility to use my platform to make a difference – even if it’s in a small way”, said our CEO, Tim Ford, at the LGBTQIA+ Leadership Summit hosted by The Leadership Institute (ANZ) in Sydney last week. Opening the two-day conference, Tim shared his views on how our culture of inclusion has built an environment where people feel safe, wanted, connected and confident. Embracing difference is the right thing to do, but it also makes good business sense: people perform at their very best when they’re part of a team that reflects the community it serves.   And for one of our most popular wine brands, the irreverent Squealing Pig, celebrating the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community is second nature, having partnered with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras since 2022. The brands Pride labels were developed in collaboration with our TWE Pride employee resource group and Pride in Diversity.
