日本シリーズ第６戦で１６０球を投げながら、第７戦も救援登板した楽天・田中将大（２５）。そんな田中の鉄腕ぶりや男気にメディアは絶賛の嵐だが、あれをメジャーで行った場合、チーム内で「四面楚歌」になる恐れがある。 楽天の今季守護神で、ヤンキースで先発経験もあるラズナーが以前、こんな話をしていた。 「メジャーの先発投手というのは、完投すれば評価されるというわけではないんだ。先発が完投すれば、その分、救援陣の出番が減ることになる。先発はそのことを頭に入れて投げないといけない」 メジャーでは日本以上に「先発、中継ぎ、抑え」という分業制が確立している。先発投手に１００球前後の球数制限を設けているのは、シーズンを通して中４日のローテーションを守る疲労を考慮しているだけではない。登板数や投球回数に応じてインセンティブ（出来高）を得られる契約を結ぶ中継ぎ、抑え投手の出場機会を確保する意味合いもある。今季
