This research aims to determine the types of bacterial symbionts in mangrove waste with potency as anti-bacterial agents. These anti-bacterial agents will subsequently be used in the production of compost with bio-activators. The research process involves isolation of symbiont bacteria, identification for symbiont bacteria with potency as anti-bacterial agent, DNA extraction using High Pure PCR Temperature Preparation Kit (Roche), DNA amplification by PCR 16s rDNA, and DNA Sequencing. Resulting amplified 16S rDNA are analyzed and then sequenced using Genetix program. Symbionts with identified anti-bacterial properties are used in bio-activator production. Samples of Sargassum seaweed are treated separately with resulting bio-activator product from the research and other bio-activator products for nutritional content comparison. Four types of symbiont bacteria are identified as potential anti-bacterial agents, namely Pseudomonas sp., Flavobacterium sp., Acinetobacter sp., Bacillus subtilis. It is further found that bio-activator products from mangrove waste have better quality compared to those found in the market and non-bio activator added liquid organic fertilizers. Therefore, bio-activators from mangrove waste is a potential alternative as natural bio-activator products.

However, the available antioxidants are synthetic which are potentially toxic when excessively accumulated in the body. Therefore, it is necessary to trace natural compounds that are natural antioxidants Phenol is one source of antioxidant compounds in seaweed. Jepara coastal waters have abundant seaweed resources, one of which is Sargassum seaweed. This study aims to conduct an evaluation study of the total content of phenol compounds and the antioxidant capacity of various extracts of Sargassum from Jepara beach. This research is expected to be the basis for research on antioxidant supplements for preventive actions. The study was conducted in June 2018, which consisted of sampling, extraction, determination of total phenol and antioxidant activity. Sampling in the study used a purposive method. Antioxidant capacity and total phenol were determined using laboratory experimental methods. High quality feed can be well digested by shrimp so that it can improve the growth and do not leave plenty of residue. Mold is capable of producing cellulase which can be used to improve feed quality by shortening carbohydrate chains. This paper will discuss the application of endophytic molds to simplify cellulose in shrimp feed. Mold isolates were collected from mangrove ecosystems in North Sulawesi. The media used for culturing mold are potato dextrose agar (PDA) and potato dextrose broth (PDB). Fermentation test was conducted using the fungal isolates; Hypocreales sp. and Diaporthe stewartii and consortia and controls. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi nudibranchia yang ditemukan di Pantai Krakal. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Oktober 2021. Nudibranchia dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan coolbox dari Pantai Krakal. Identifikasi dilakukan secara in situ dengan buku iden Debelius 2004. Jenis nudibranchia yang ditemukan dari penelitian ini adalah Aplysia dactylomela, Dendrodoris carbunculosa, Dendrodoris fumata, Dendrodoris nigra dan Discodoris lilacina. Sumber daya atau senyawa ini dapat menjadi penting dan berguna dalam bidang farmasi obat. Obat yang berkhasiat dari fauna dan flora laut berasal dari metabolit sekunder yang terdapat pada masing-masing organisme. Metabolit sekunder disebut juga produk alami dari organisme, yaitu senyawa organik yang tidak terlibat langsung dalam pertumbuhan normal, perkembangan atau reproduksi organisme. Senyawa tersebut bermanfaat sebagai pertahanan diri individu terhadap predator, parasite, penyakit, persaingan untuk antar species juga untuk memfasilitasi dalam proses reproduksi seperti pengaruh terhadap warna, bau. Bila di darat, metabolit sekunder justru banyak ditemukan pada tanaman tingkat tinggi. Kondisi ini berbeda dengan di laut karena senyawa metabolit sekunder justru ditemukan pada biota yang tidak bergerak (immobile) (Soediro dan Padmawinata., 1993). Kondisi ini disebabkan karena biota yang tidak bergerak akan tetap tinggal di lingkungan tersebut dari generasi ke generasi, kecuali bila digerakkan oleh alam seperti arus, ombak atau musibah alam. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon found in living things that emit light without emitting h... more Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon found in living things that emit light without emitting heat. Bioluminescence can be produced in three ways, namely from special photocytes cells, glands in tissues, and luminescent bacteria that are symbiotic to the host. Bioluminescence in Loligo sp and Harpadon nehereus is known to originate from luminescent bacteria which are symbiotic in luminescent organs. However, information about symbiotic bacteria in other types of luminescence biota and its potential in Indonesian waters has not been widely explored. This study aims to determine the potential of luminescence symbiotic bacteria in Loligo sp. and Loligo edulis from Jepara waters and Harpadon nehereus from the Malacca Strait waters, Indonesia as an anti-bacterial agent and to prove differences in the luminescence proteins produced by symbiotic bacteria and their hosts. Sample collection is done by isolating the bacteria from luminescent organs which are then used as research samples. The study was conducted using a qualitative activity test on pathogenic bacteria and analysis of SDS-PAGE electrophoresis protein in bacteria and its host. The study found 2 isolates of luminescent symbiotic bacteria that were potential as antibacterial agents against Multi Drug resistant (MDR) pathogens of Escherichia coli, with inhibition zones of 32.59 mm and of Enterobacter sp.5 with inhibition zones of 28.44 mm. Luminescent symbiotic bacteria of L. edulis have the potential to be antibacterial agent against Vibrio harveyi, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus sp. Analysis of H. nehereus symbiotic bacteria showed gamma hemolytic in blood agar test. Protein analysis of SDS-PAGE electrophoresis showed that the enzymes found insymbionic bacteria were different from the enzymes in their host.
