Release 4.1.0

Dear BibSonomy users,

again right in time for Christmas / Holidays we finished our - extensive - work on BibSonomy Version 4.1.0 and released it.

There have been over 2.000 commits and over 5.000 files changed since our last release! Thus, this is a major update that includes tons of bugfixes and some new features, but most importantly a lot of technical rework invisible in the background.

The most visible changes are a new layout for viewing details of a post, a newly redesigned batch edit page, and much more.

Furthermore, we fixed/updated almost all scrapers from our scraper framework - also stay tuned as we plan bigger improvements in this regard to make sure that our scrapers stay up to date!

Happy Tagging

Release 3.9.2

Dear BibSonomy users,

right in time for Christmas / Holidays we finished our work on BibSonomy Version 3.9.2 and released it on Tuesday.

It is a minor updated that includes several bugfixes and some new features. In detail:
  • PhD Advisor Recommendations:
The sidebar on person pages may now includes a ranked list of possible PhD advisors (if there are some). These recommendations were generated by machine learning algorithms from the co-author graph of the particular person.
  • “Show all tags”-Feature: If a publication holds more tags than we can render on a site, a link is generated to display all tags in a tiny popover window.
  • We Fixed/Updated several scrapers from our Scraper Framework.
  • Finally, serveral minor bugs were fixed and some eye candy for the post pages was added.

Happy Tagging

DESIR CodeSprint

As partners in the European project DESIR we will participate in the DESIR CodeSprint which will take place in Berlin from July 31 to August 2. Within our task Import and export of bibliographical data from BibSonomy and ingest in managed collections a demonstrator will be implemented that showcases interaction between BibSonomy and Grobid and provides a simple tool for managing bibliographic metadata. The registration for the CodeSprint is still open - so if you are able to visit Berlin and interested in programming together with other experts (mainly in Python), register and you can meet a part of the BibSonomy team at the end of July in Berlin.

We are looking forward to the CodeSprint!

HTTP access disabled

Today we disabled our HTTP access as announced last year. This implies that every request is now encrypted by default using TSL (also known as HTTPS) to protect your privacy. We now redirect all non-encrypted HTTP traffic to the corresponding HTTPS page (using a HTTP 301 response).

Some plugins and extensions that are using the REST API might have problems with the redirects. Please try to update the plugin or extension. If you still have problems with the plugin or extension, please contact us via email or Twitter.

Happy secure tagging,
Daniel
