Permeable Boundary

Permeable boundary became a theme for a series of works that represented my autobiographical and ... more Permeable boundary became a theme for a series of works that represented my autobiographical and cultural displacement using the photograph, the moving image, sound and poetry as mediums. The airport was a place I likened to the permeable boundary in my life. It is a place that represents for me, a removal from my real life.
I like the idea of a space existing being between two places. A non permanent existential outline that is defined and shaped by the individual – this structure is a permeable skin allowing the self to move fluidly back and forth, much like something that is porous.This book for me represented an expansion on this whole idea of a place existing both in the mind – as a conscious indicator of being torn between two places and using the permeable place as a substitute or safe haven for cultural identity crisis. It was travel that ultimately provided a very solid theme that pulsated through the very veins of this story.
