To do this, the key underlying motives and relevant organizational dynamics behind the need for combining these two management systems are investigated. Then, drawing on the extant literature, we review the primary dimensions of QM, EM and quality-environmental management (QEM) systems and develop a conceptual model linking their effects with firm performance. Moreover, we also provide managerial relevance and academic implications of our proposed model.

Thus, the purpose of this paper is to examine whether environmental and social performance mediates the relationship between environmental management practices and operational performance and whether operational performance mediates the relationship between environmental and social performance and financial performance. Design/methodology/approach Drawing on a data set of 208 firms operating in a wide range of manufacturing industries, the authors test the hypotheses using structural equation modeling. The research context for the study is Turkey, an important emerging market and one of the nexuses of European and Asian supply chains. Findings The findings indicate that all three aspects of sustainability have mutually supportive relations...

First, a conceptual framework was developed, relying on the premises of the resource‐based view. Second, mediating roles of quality performance and environmental proactivity were examined on the association between integrated quality and environmental management systems and firm performance. Among the underlying trends, both quality performance and environmental proactivity were found to fully mediate the relationship between integrated quality and environmental management and firm performance.

We investigate how firms' social capital and relational capability influence their environmental performance, by analyzing the mediating role of environmental collaboration and the moderating role of cross-functional alignment. Based on an analysis of dual responses from 270 Turkish firms, we find that environmental collaboration mediates the impact of social capital and relational capability on environmental performance. We also find that alignment between marketing and supply chain management functions strengthens the effects of relational capability and environmental collaboration on environmental performance. Our study suggests that both environmental collaboration and cross-functional alignment are necessary if the true value of social capital and relational capability for environmental performance is to be realized.

The viability of the proposed methodology is demonstrated via the sales representatives of Beko, a brand name controlled by Koç Group. We first develop a conceptual framework based on qualitative research methods – in-depth interviews and focus group sessions. We employ the principles of ANP methodology to examine and discover the inter-relationships among the OCBs. This process results in a descriptive model that encapsulates the findings from both qualitative and analytics methods. Necessity, altruism, departmental, compliance, and independence are the underlying dimensions of OCBs found to be the most influential/important. The key novelty of this study resides in designing and developing a prescriptive analytics (i.e. ANP) methodology to evaluate the OCBs, which is rare in the area of organizational behavior (a managerial field of study that have been dominated by traditional statistical methods), and thus serves as a useful contribution/augmentation to the business/managerial research methods, and also extends the reach/coverage of analytics-based decision support systems research and practice into a new direction.

To this end, we first develop a conceptual framework relying predominantly on the arguments of stakeholder and institutional perspectives. Secondly, we examine the moderating effects of a number of firm specific contingency factors on the implementation level of corporate environmental policies. Among the underlying dimensions of corporate environmental policies, “stakeholder pressures” is found to be the most important followed by “environmental management practices”, while “sources of greenhouse gas emissions” feature as relatively less important. Regarding the moderating effect of firm specific contingencies, only firm size and geographic location are noted to have a strong impact on the implementation of corporate environmental policies.
