Funkcija
urediProtein kodiran ovim genom je član porodice sintaksinskih ćelijskih receptora za transport vezikula koji učestvuju u egzocitozi u neutrofilima.[6] STX3 ima važnu ulogu u rastu neurita i služi kao direktna meta za omega-6 arahidonsku kiselinu.[8] Mutacije u sintaksinu 3 uzrokuju bolest inkluzije mikrovilusa.[9]
