Update e-mailaddress of account "CommonsDelinker" (on centralauth and/or commonswiki)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Toolserver tool "CommonsDelinker"[1][2] is currently down and has been for several weeks because the file system on Toolserver for the (multi-user) project "delinker" has a .password file for PyWikiBot that is apparently outdated.

It contains 2 password, one for User:CommonsDelinker and one for User:CommonsDelinkerHelper. The one for User:CommonsDelinkerHelper is correct, but the one for User:CommonsDelinker is not.

For some reason this password was changed, but we (the maintainers of this tool) are unable to fix this because this account (User:CommonsDelinker), unlike User:CommonsDelinkerHelper, has its e-mailaddress set to a GMail account only Bryan has access to (commonsdelinker@gmail.com) whereas User:CommonsDelinkerHelper is set to delinker@toolserver.org which is forwarded to all members who put their address in .forward on Toolserver.

Since Bryan seems to be unreachable/unresponsive, I'd like to make a request for someone with shell access to change the e-mailaddress of User:CommonsDelinker from the gmail address to delinker@toolserver.org.

This will allow us to reset the password and get the bot back on line.

I can't help with the root problem, but this may be a good time to make the switch to Tool Labs which would solve the issue indirectly.

Why not just do it yourself? You've got shell access which can give you both SQL and mw environment access to mediawiki to change this...

No, not even close. The bot accesses the wiki, we're locked out of the wiki account. Hosting the software elsewhere isn't going to change that.

I know, but I didn't know how we feel about making these changes directly to the database without record or permission. I can do it myself, sure. And once I know that it is okay to do so, I will (if someone else doesn't do it first).
