To propose a framework based on relevant literature that clarifies, differentiates, organizes, and elaborates on pertinent factors associated with resilience in children.SOURCES. Relevant literature from developmental psychology, child psychiatry, and nursingCONCLUSIONS. Salient factors affecting resilience in children originate internally or externally to the individual. Analysis revealed the stories reflected professional values (altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, social justice) identified in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Essentials for Baccalaureate Nursing. Nursing educators can use such innovative and creative assignments to document how students integrate professional values into their practice, reflect on their interactions with patients, and validate teaching effectiveness.
