Wayfinding has come a long way – from stick-and-stone star charts to high-definition mapping with centimeter accuracy, and autonomous vehicle guidance. Yet, when we look at city maps around the world we see the stark reality: 98% of buildings are unmapped. Most of us also spend 87% of our time indoors, so ensuring places like transportation hubs, malls, and workplaces are mapped is important. Recently at the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) Annual Meeting in Tacoma, WA, our VP of Engineering - Platform, Jere Suikkila, gave a talk about exploring the indoor challenges we face, and how they can be solved. He discussed similarities and differences between outdoor and indoor mapping, and showed the exciting future of indoor mapping and navigation where one map everywhere truly connects people, businesses, and information. We’re kicking off the #30DayMapChallenge for Day 1: Points! Harness the power of points in Mappedin with our latest SDK! In this example, we’re showing points based on searches inside a venue using PowerBI, including which platform it was searched from (web, Android, or iOS). Point clusters showing similar searches (such as a 'coffee shop') provide information and insight for teams and property management. Since it’s Halloween, here’s an extra treat! 🍬🎃 Inspired by the Clue board game, a comedic murder mystery set in a mansion, we mapped the layout to provide an immersive experience. Even the secret passages in the mansion connect to the same locations as those in the board game! Is it a Halloween movie?
