This month, ONxpress Operations Inc. (“OOI,” aka the Operations & Maintenance team) came together for a series of internal events to celebrate Pride and the 2SLGBTQ+ community and continue to foster an inclusive and equitable future for our organization. Here’s a recap of what we did this Pride season: ⭐ Created a raffle for OOI employees to win books from a fantastic selection of 2SLGBTQ+ publications that inspire reading more about the cause well beyond Pride Month, ⭐ Shared a curated list of podcasts and LinkedIn Learning courses around Pride topics to empower employees, ⭐ Supported the 2SLGBTQ+ community by donating to Rainbow Railroad, ⭐And supported a 2SLGBTQ+-owned business by enjoying some sweet treats in our office! At ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team), “safety without compromise” is our rallying call-to-action. Our employees collectively voted it our most valued guiding principle and strive to embody this ideal in absolutely everything that we do. Last week, three members of our team perfectly demonstrated this value in action on their way to work. June 20, 2024 - As Rabia Naseem, Greg Alabi, and Zain-Ul Abadin were driving together towards their designated worksite, the trio noticed an overhead powerline dangling dangerously low towards a residential sidewalk. They swiftly called 311 to report the issue and were advised to immediately contact emergency services to secure the area. Peel Regional Police blocked off the site to protect the public until repair crews could arrive. The authorities confirmed that it was in fact a live cable and thus posed a significant safety concern. We are so proud of Rabia, Greg, and Zain for their commitment to safety without compromise, and for extending that assurance beyond our work teams to include the public at large. Last week, ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team) was proud to take part in the Lambton College Co-Op Job Fair in North York, Ontario. We enjoyed speaking with nearly 100 enthusiastic students, the majority of whom are pursuing education in the college’s Construction Project Management (CPMT) industrial program. Katherine Parga Camargo, Carla Landa, Stefany Naranjo, and Shumaina T. represented the Design & Construction team at the ONxpress booth, networking with Lambton students (and potential Fall 2024 co-op placement candidates) who are interested in working with us on the GO Expansion – On-Corridor Works project. Today, National Indigenous Peoples Day recognizes and celebrates the history, heritage, resilience and diversity of the First Nations, Inuit, and Metis people of Canada. For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.   ONxpress Operations Inc. A modern signalling system, which will enable faster, safer and more reliable service, is coming to the GO rail network. Metrolinx has selected a world-standard signalling system called the European Train Control System – Level 2 as part of the GO Expansion - On-Corridor Works (OnCorr) project. This system will make it possible to safely run faster, more frequent trains on the GO network, while integrating other freight and passenger rail users that share the rail network.
