Thank you MineralsEd for hosting a successful Natural Resources in Vancouver Harbour Cruise for teachers across British Columbia. The half day cruise took BC Teachers through the Port of Vancouver to learn about the Province’s natural recourses economy, observe the various operations that make up the Port and to consider where the materials come from, where they go, and who plays a role in making it all work. At the event, Taseko’s VP of Engineering Richard Weymark, P.Eng., MBA , shared Taseko’s story – as copper concentrate produced at Gibraltar is shipped in bulk from the Port of Vancouver, providing the world with the necessary copper to produce many goods we use in our everyday lives. We’re happy to support MineralsEd, who are dedicated to encouraging and supporting earth science, mineral resources and mining education in schools. #miningeductation #mineralsed #bcnaturalresources
About us
Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, Taseko Mines Limited is a dynamic international mining company driven to unlock the true value of copper in North America for its investors, employees, communities, and for the complex changing world. As a leading copper producer, Taseko recognizes and delivers enduring opportunity through developing and operating world-class copper mines and mineral properties in British Columbia and Arizona. Taseko’s corporate strategy is to grow the company sustainably and profitably by focusing on the continued operations of the Company’s foundational asset, the Gibraltar Mine, while also developing its pipeline of high-quality advanced- stage development projects. The long-life, low-cost Gibraltar copper mine (75% owned) located in south-central BC, is a state-of-the-art facility that has won numerous environmental and safety awards for operational excellence. It is second largest open pit copper mine in Canada, producing an average of 130 million pounds of copper and 2.5 million pounds of molybdenum per year, and supporting a 700+ person workforce. Taseko is also advancing the Florence Copper project in Arizona – a near-term copper producer with an unparalleled energy, water and GHG profile per unit of production. Florence Copper is a unique ‘in-situ copper recovery’ project which, once in production, will significantly increase Taseko’s annual metal production, delivering a necessary metal our society requires for a low-carbon future. In addition, Taseko also owns the Yellowhead copper project and the Aley niobium project providing the Company with a diverse development opportunity.
