  • Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group.   October is “Protect Your Hearing Month” – take time now to ensure you’re using the proper PPE and other controls to limit your exposure to noise on the job. You can protect your hearing by: • Using a low-noise alternative for equipment when possible. • Using sound barriers around equipment like compressors. • Using mufflers on machinery. • Wearing PPE such as earplugs and earmuffs. Hearing damage is permanent and often happens gradually, so you may not notice that it’s happened until it’s too late. Protect yourself now to avoid realizing years down the line that you’ve harmed your health   At Western Pacific, Safety is Life.    #WesternPacific #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety

  • Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. When on the road, you can’t control what other drivers are doing, but you can be ready to react appropriately to their actions by using defensive driving techniques. To be an effective defensive driver, you need to… ① Have a proactive mindset. ② Stay calm and avoid reacting impulsively and emotionally to other drivers’ errors. ③ Be aware of potential hazards before a dangerous situation occurs, adjusting your driving appropriately and safely. ④ Never assume that another driver on the road is going to make the right decision. ⑤ Always follow the rules of the road. Defensive driving prevents accidents. Stay aware, stay calm, stay proactive, and you’ll make the road safer for yourself and others. • Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Keeping your body safely positioned is about the way you’re moving your body as well as where your body is in relation to your surroundings. Always take a few moments to consider your body positioning before starting a task. Ask yourself if any body parts are in the bite, in the line of fire, or at risk from pinch points. Before lifting, make sure you know the correct position and motion for lifting. Use your legs – not your back – and always ask for help or use mechanical means if an item is heavy or awkward. As you work, check to ensure you’re in the optimal position for the situation. It’s important to be taking care of your body as you work, and this starts with making sure you have proper body positioning as you begin and while you’re conducting any task.        At Western Pacific, Safety is Life.                  #WesternPacific #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety

  • Western Pacific is equipped to handle Canada’s clean energy transformation with the knowledge, experience, and resources needed to construct its infrastructure. This #WorldEVDay, we are especially proud to be offering our clients a partnership that helps them meet their electrification goals. We recently wrapped up a project which included the full electrical installation of 60 EV chargers at a facility in Richmond, BC. Our work has helped enable our client’s mission to convert their delivery fleet to 100% EV vehicles, all while working around challenging schedules to accommodate the vehicles’ daily runs. 🔗 Discover more about our clean energy capabilities: https://lnkd.in/ghHaneZa #WesternPacific #MYRGroup #ElectricVehicles #EVChargers #CleanEnergy

  • We are thrilled to announce that Transit Integrators BC (TIBC), a joint venture between Western Pacific Enterprises Ltd. and AtkinsRéalis, has been selected as the preferred proponent for the Surrey Langley SkyTrain (SLS) Systems and Trackwork Contract!   The extension of the Expo Line consists of 16 km of elevated track through eight stations, primarily along Fraser Highway, from King George Station in Surrey to Langley City Centre. The SLS Systems and Trackwork contract includes trackwork, power rail and linear induction motor (LIM) rail system, communications, automated train control, and power propulsion equipment. Once complete, the SLS will provide a fast, frequent and reliable transit option to improve travel times in the region.    This is the largest project in WPE’s 50-year history and was nearly 2 years in the making with many people involved. Bravo! to everyone at WPE whose hard work and commitment to this pursuit contributed to this tremendous result.  We also thank the many members of our TIBC partner, AtkinsRéalis, whose leadership and collaboration were instrumental in this achievement.

  • Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Ensuring that tools, equipment, and PPE are safe to use is a continual job. Even if you’ve just driven a vehicle the day before, or used PPE recently, you need to take the time to inspect it before you use it again. Always adhere to the inspection policies and procedures required for the equipment or tool you are using or the area you’re in. In some cases, there are formal inspection procedures and inspection date/time forms that need to be filled out with each inspection. Even if there isn’t a formal inspection procedure, do an inspection of the tool or equipment. Use the two-minute rule and practice a questioning attitude. Any damage, deterioration, or malfunctioning part can create a serious hazard.   At Western Pacific, Safety is Life.    #WesternPacific #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety
