Capture the Atlas

Capture the Atlas Australian Astro Workshop has some fantastic locations and amazing dark skies. The Tour leaders Dan, John and Ascen were awesome. It was great to live and breath photography for an entire week with people who share the same passion. Ive been following Dans Astro stuff from his very early days and I cannot recommend Capture the Atlas enough. I've booked to go on another workshop in November!

Capture the Atlas far exceeded my expectations with this year's back to back Swiss Alps and Dolomites tour. From iconic locations, idyllic landscape from Unesco heritage listed sites, David Aguilar and Dan Zafra offered the ultimate photography learning experience. Can't wait for the next adventure!

Experiencing the Lofoten Islands with David and Prince exceeded all expectations! Every stop introduced a new magical Arctic landscape and 1:1 instruction on how to find the best camera settings and image composition. We were able to capture magical sunrise and sunset shots, which helped me to better understand my camera under many different light conditions. We had one night of aurora viewing and were especially lucky to have the Milky Way show up in some of the photos!

I recently returned from a fabulous 2 week trip in Patagonia with Capture the Atlas. Our leaders, Prince and Francesco were phenomenal. They were always helpful and I learned so much in a very short period of time. Patagonia, and this tour, exceeded my expectations. The group was wonderful and the landscapes were breathtaking. I particularly enjoyed the hiking and camping part of this photo trip. I will definitely travel with CTA again! Thanks for an amazing adventure.

Our trip to Iceland lead by David Aguilar and Francesco Dall'Olmo was amazing. They took time to stay in touch with our group weeks before the trip and answered every question leading to our tour. They are both very knowledgeable about photography and took time to give you the best composition tips as well as locations for the best shot.

Death Valley and Alabama Hills was my intro to astrophotography, and the preparation provided before the trip as well as the support during the workshop exceeded my expectations.

I want to thank David and Francesco for their extreme knowledge and professionalism during the 2023 tour of the Swiss & French Alps. Your activeness, knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail makes this the best run group ever. Thanks and look forward to seeing you again. I wish I had you two on all my workshops.

I also want to add that the logistics of the trip done by both the whole CTA team and the leaders of our group was exemplary from tracking the weather closely to determine which spots would be best to the entire organization and planning of the experience from checklists before starting to lists of places that we went to and the CTA Academy. I wish all of my life were so well organized!

Prince and David were excellent instructors throughout the Faroe Islands tour with Capture the Atlas. The trip was well organized with in-depth details provided both in the months leading up to and during the tour. It was such a relief to just show up to our hotel lobby with my photography gear packed, knowing the day ahead would be filled with amazing sites and great instructions for compositions. I look forward to future adventure with these guides and this company!

La Palma was my second trip with Capture the Atlas and did not disappoint. Prince and Francesco were great. I learned even more on this trip then my first. These guys are very helpful and always available to provide tips on everything from technical to composition. Getting us to the right place at the right time to capture the best pictures takes the stress out of planning and enables the participants to concentrate on photography. I will travel with this group again!

I don’t know how Capture the Atlas organizes things so well. Dan Zafra and David Aguilar were excellent, informative leaders, patient with even Astro-neophytes like me. There are day shoots, sunset shoots, and of course Astro shoots throughout the nights. This course has absolutely everything a photo junkie could want.

What a magnificent trip! From the organization of the acclimatization hikes, to the sublime scenery (day and night) of the Huayhuash mountains. Also the personalized teaching and the natural enthusiasm of Dan and Ascen, the gentle confidence of Walter and Beto our local guides, and the 5-star, 3 to 4-course meals of George, was just perfect. The Capture the Atlas teaching videos are the cherry on top. Thanks again!

Dan was a great workshop leader. His knowledge was well above the level of most night photography workshops. With Dan's patient guidance, I managed to use a star tracker for the first time and to capture great images. I highly recommend Dan, especially if you are a seasoned night photographer and looking for personalized attention in a small group.

This was my first much anticipated workshop at beautiful Monument Valley with Capture the Atlas and it did not fail my expectation. Dan runs the workshop like a well-oiled machine. Both guides have been exceptional in helping and never hesitated to share their knowledge in daytime landscape and astrophotography. I have learned immensely and I will definitely be doing another Capture the Atlas workshop very soon.

This trip was a once-in-a-lifetime bucket-list experience for me. I had never been to Norway or seen the Northern Lights. From the prior tours (this was my third one) I knew that Capture the Atlas sets the bar very high for photo adventure tours, but this exceeded my expectations. As usual, the trip and itinerary were meticulously planned and things were kept on schedule. The were able to see and shoot tons of orcas and humpback whales up close. Truly an unforgettable experience.
