I’d like to start storing my money in EUR instead of USD. Is there an easy and simple way to do this digitally with minimal fees?

Some banks, like HSBC, will allow you to hold foreign currency accounts. There are also things like Wise, but I haven’t looked much in to it.

I don’t see the point of holding EUR though as you can’t spend them here. You’d be better off investing in a currency ETF, or just international stocks/funds if your goal is to diversify from the US.

Carney is a smart guy. He met with leaders in the EU and discussed a slow selloff of US Treasury bonds to remind Trump that the US is being propped up by the rest of the world. The next day, Trump paused the tariffs citing “people getting too yippy” as his justification.

It’s great to see intelligent and composed leaders put him in his place. China said, “we have been here for 5,000 years, most of that time without the US, and we expect to be here for 5,000 more.” That’s some Teddy Roosevelt shit right there.

It was built by the Qin Dynasty, which despite being called “the first unified China” was a fraction of the size of modern China. And was built in part to keep people who are also now Chinese, and not just Mongols, out of “China”

And it also didn’t last, it was fractured whem that dynasty fell.

Other than distant genetics, they have as much in common with modern China as the Greek government does to the linage of Ptolemy.

So China has existed for 5000 years but America has only existed since white peoples decided to start a government? Or are you cool with Native Americans claiming 50,000 years?

The Chinese people lived in China prior to the PRC. The same is not true for the European colonialists.

We’re talking about the United States, not Americans. The people that created the United States were not Americans. They were Europeans. They didn’t begin to settle here until the 17th century. The Chinese didn’t immigrate to China to found the PRC.

No. We are talking about China and I asked a specific question. Now you are bordering on being racist.

This is a stray thought but I don’t know why “douche” became a universal insult. I mean, every woman I know says “douchebag” occasionally so it’s only part misogyny. But no one is in favor of filthy mysterious lady parts. Personally, I don’t want any mysterious holes to be filthy. I hope nutria rats have clean hovels.

Whomsoever does PR and lobbying for Big Douche is really fucking it up. If anything, hygiene products should be neutral or positive terms. But those douches can’t even get that right. Even Big Hose has better PR.

There’s an inertia to geriatrics that start to wax and wane.

Biden did one thing his entire life, and he had an intact army of bureaucrats to hold him up.

I do think this old man is also waxing and waning, and that Trump too is following the inertia of his base tendencies which is why he is more erratic and stubborn now. And Trump doesn’t have friends or real family he has sycophants.

          Biden did one thing?

Then why did Trump have to sign over 220 executive orders to undo Biden’s work?

That poster meant that Biden was a politician for his whole life, and built up a competent political apparatus that could keep his agenda going even while he took an extra nap now and then.

I didn’t state the context strongly enough with “his entire life”, allow me to expand on that. Biden is a career politician. Washington is his life. He’s more or less had one job within different roles, involving politics and navigating Washington.

As such, the inertia of all of that action, at his jobs held in Washington across the span of decades kept him on track as he waxes and wanes mentally. It’s why some people were probably quite honest when they said they didn’t see a problem in their conversations with him. That’s how waxing and waning works while in a familiar environment.

Screen slide to Trump. What is his inertia as he waxes and wanes outside of his home.

Geriatrics who are fraying around the edges also do worse when not at home.

Biden, arguably, was at home in Washington having spent 52 years of his life there. Is Trump? This is what, year 5, total? And didn’t he spend half of the last 4 at Maralago?

He wasn’t entirely fresh any more but more or less knew what he was doing. And he wasn’t actively trying to destroy the country at the behest of a hostile foreign power. But yeah, gas was more expensive.
