Pardee of Global Studies at Boston University. His interdisciplinary research is situated at the intersection of international and comparative political economy, sociology and economics. Ban’s current research has been published by refereed journals and concentrates on the politics of expertise in international economic organizations and domestic European policy spheres. His publications and ongoing work focus on such issues as fiscal policy, financial regulation and the politics of redistribution in Europe, with a focus on Southern and Southeastern Europe. According to Google Scholar, since he started publishing three years ago, his research has received on average 50 citations a year (h index 5), with one article published in 2013 being among the ten most downloaded in the Review of International Political Economy, a flagship journal in the field. Ban recently co-authored two successful grant applications worth 2.5 million euros awarded by the European Commission’s new Horizon 2020 program and the Institute for New Economic Thinking. He has experience in institution building and consolidation as a co-director of the Global Economic Governance Initiative at Boston University, of the Global Development Program at the same university and of the Development Studies concentration at Brown University.
