HIPERTOUCH

The HIPerTouch table uses frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR) to illuminate a composite touch surface consisting of a sandwiched acrylic, silicon and low-friction surface layers. This surface composition supports the creation of pressure sensitive touch gestures, going beyond binary touch events. The low-friction surface layer also serves as the final diffuser for hte IR signal being injected by LED light strips surrounding the acrylic. A rear-projection approach is used to create visuals on the 88 centimeter diagonal table surface with a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Innovation:

  • Pressure sensitive surface, enabling touch location and pressure measurement
