What is a No Show and Late Cancelation Fee?
Students will incur a no show/late fee of $15 if they do not attend their scheduled Health or Counseling & Psychological Services appointment. Students may cancel their appointment 24 hours or more in advance of the appointment to avoid the fee. In consultation with student leaders, Campus Health and Wellbeing (CH&W) has lowered the fee to $15 for the 2023-24 academic year to lessen the financial impact it may have on some students.
CH&W is charging this fee to ensure that students have access to Health and Counseling & Psychological Services. When a student does not keep an appointment or cancels at the last minute, professional time goes unused. The collected fees fund health-related expenses on behalf of students who cannot afford the costs of medication, durable medical goods, or other related expenses.
How do I cancel my appointment to avoid a fee?
- Calling Health Services at 805-756-1211
- Calling Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) at 805-756-2511
- Canceling in person at CH&W between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
- Canceling via the Student Health Portal (accessible through your Cal Poly portal)
What if I feel like I was unfairly charged and I want to appeal the fee?
Students who are charged this fee can appeal if they feel their circumstance merits special consideration. To appeal a fee, please download and fill out this form and submit it to CH&W no later than three days from the date of the missed appointment. Your request will be reviewed, and you will receive a decision via Secure Message sent to your Cal Poly email address.
