Maintaining Asthma Control (AC) is the goal of GINA guidelines. Therapeutic educational pathway (TEP) can help to reduce the use of health care and to achieve AC. The effect of TEP with the telemedicine did not yet investigate. Aim: to assess the impact of the TEP together with a mobile app (DragONE, freely available in apple and play store) and a portable spirometer (SmartOne MIR, Italy) in a cohort of 50 asthmatic children, 6-11 yrs. Methods: Children were randomized into TEP and no TEP group (1:1). Children attended visits every month for a 3 months follow-up period. DragONE and SmartOne were provided to all parents. Children performed PEF two times per day and recorded symptoms. Children completed CACT and a detailed medical history. Urinary cotinine, nicotine and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons metabolites were measured throughout the study as possible modifier in AC. The least square mean difference, adjusted for different risk factors was applied in order to assess the inter visit change in C-ACT scores between TEP and No TEP. A p-value≤0.05 was considered significant. Results: a significant improvement in AC was observed from T1 to T4 only in TEP, the different variation in C-ACT was significantly higher in TEP than No TEP (Tab.1). Conclusions: this study confirms the importance of TEP in pediatric asthma, suggesting that it may help in asthma management.

The laboratory was carried out within the context of an ongoing project funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. The aim of the project is to activate a national network for the enhancement of students' technological and scientific skills in school and extra-school settings. A group of 51 students, engaged in the robotics laboratory, were compared to a comparison group of 32 students in order to evaluate the impact of programming WeDo robotics artefacts on the development of computational thinking skills. Overall, the results showed that programming robotics artefacts may exert positive effects on children's acquisition of computational thinking skills.

The participants comprised a total of 27 parents. The findings showed that participation in the program promotes parents’ empowerment and reduce parental stress and a general improvement in the parents’ ability to stimulate children’s learning. Moreover, the study reveals an effect of parents’ age in mediating the relationship among the parents’ ability, stress, and empowerment levels. These results suggest that an early intervention telehealth program may help parents become aware of how to benefit from interactions with their children, promote their empowerment, and reduce parenting stress.

One of the main limits of these applications concerns the development of learning materials suitable for mobile learning contexts. In fact, learning content must be usually prepared in advance by teachers and maintained during the whole lifespan of the application. In this paper, we present MeLOD, a mobile learning environment, which exploits the huge amount of dataset in the Linked Open Data (LOD) cloud to overcome the previous issue, and provides contextualized and continuously updated information based on students’ location. The position of the student sent by the mobile device is used to interlink Geonames DBpedia and Europeana datasets to provide information about all the interesting cultural heritage sites close to the student. Moreover, students social activities like voting and commenting are used to enhance the knowledge base ...

This has led to a huge problem for guarantee quality instruction for migrants, especially young people; research carried out by UNICEF has shown that young migrants represent the desire to be able to resume regular education as soon as possible. The answer to these new education challenges finds concrete support in new technologies. In fact, they allow the development of new dematerialized learning contexts, in which the pedagogical approaches can be dynamically adapted to the specific needs of the individual migrants, whether he is host to reception facilities, included in educational institutions, or in movement. In addition, there is the opportunity for asynchronous use of the contents and the possibility of a wide use of multilingual tools. But what is more important, the educational experiences supported by the new technologies would allow an immediate resumption of the scholastic pathway of the young migrants, since their inclusion in the first reception centers. In this paper, we present the results of the Studiare Migrando project (www.studiaremigrando.it), in which an online learning platform to improve the language skills of young migrants and accessible via mobile devices has been implemented. The use of an app has allowed us to highlight how digital technologies, and in particular mobile devices, can meet the learning needs of learners on the move, such as the forced migrants.

One of the advantages of using LOD datasets as the knowledge base (KB) of the system, is that new datasets can be easily interconnected to the existing KB. From a pedagogical point of view the MeLOD environment has been designed with the aim of supporting: a) personalized learning experiences, since students can select their preferences related to language, categories of interest and preferred media type to experience a unique learning journey; b) location based learning, by providing geo-located information depending on the mobile learners localization and ...

The literature has already highlighted the benefit of AR in enhancing learners’ outcomes in natural sciences, with a limited number of studies exploring the support of AR in social sciences. Specifically, there have been a number of systematic and scoping reviews in the AR field, but no peer-reviewed review studies on the contribution of AR within interventions aimed at teaching or training behavioral skills have been published to date. In addition, most AR research focuses on technological or development issues. However, limited studies have explored how technology affects social experiences and, in particular, the impact of using AR on social behavior. To address these research gaps, a scoping review was conducted to identify and analyze studies on the use of AR within interventions to teach behavioral skill...

We present an integrated operational oil spill prediction system that improves capacities in preventing and mitigating maritime risks from oil spills. The objective is to provide forecast information about the transport and the fate of a hypothetical oil spill under Nearly-Real Time hydrodynamic conditions in the western and central Mediterranean Sea. This complex forecast system is developed in the framework of the project SOS-Piattaforme & Impatti Off-Shore to the needs of Italian Coast Guard and other institutions, such as the Ministry of the Environment. This service has been operational since July 2020. The innovative aspect of this work is a graphical user interface (the GUI), which allows to select properties, time, and location of a pot...
